I've been waiting 2 months for Apple to make an announcement for their new Ipads.
I have the $250 giftcard that I've been saving.
Now I need to decide which one! Do I want to spend the extra $150 to get the ipad mini with retina or spend $50 and get the regular ipad mini. They dropped the price of the ipad mini from $329 to $299.
Are you excited about the Apple's news? I heard there's a lighter Macbook pro, too.

I'm an Apple rep, so I was waiting to see what they were going to do. They don't tell us anything any earlier than they release it to the public.
I'm pretty excited and I think they're going in a good direction. A new FREE OS X. Lighter iPad. Mini with retina and the higher capacity hard drive. Updated MacBooks complete with a $200 price reduction on the retina models. Lower pricing on the iPads. Overall, pretty exciting stuff!

@MrsBrewer: To sum it up, it's the ratio if pixels to the screen size. Apple claims that the devices that have the "retina display" feature have the right amount of pixels per inch so that they are indistinguishable to the naked eye (based on "typical" viewing distance and such). Basically it means it has a high resolution.

Oh, if you have and iphone5, you have retina. If you have a iphone 4S or below, you have the regular screen. I did notice the screen when I upgraded to 5. Though, it might have been newness of it is what attracted me, not really the screen.

@banana: we dropped our iPad 2 prices yesterday, we haven't done the Mini or the iPad 4 yet. My area manager said the price drops depend on the retailer. It's usually fairly quick though. I'd say within the week.
@MrsBrewer: The retina display uses liquid crystal technology to create a super high resolution screen with bright, crisp colors and no pixelation.

@LindsayInNY: I was leaning towards the mini but I heard that they might have some production delays. It's rumored to come out Nov 21. But other rumors say it might be delayed til spring!! Eek!
I'm getting impatient and wondering if I should get the ipad air.

@LindsayInNY: Did you hear? iPad mini with retina can be now bought on Apple's website! (Not in stores yet. I heard rumors I would have to wait til Nov 21st to buy it.) I just purchased mine! I ended up getting mine engraved with an inspirational work quote since the gift was given to me by my work. With it being engraved, I should get it between Nov 25-Dec 2nd. Woohoo! Can't wait! Did you buy yours yet?

@bluestriped bee: I haven't decided yet... I'm leaning towards the full-size iPad so I can use it for work purposes too. I don't get my work bonus until March or so though. =/
