@littlek: I realized I suck at reading even though you plain as day said in the beginning of this thread you were doing iui!! How exciting! Will this be your first? Medicated or unmedicated?
@septca: Whoo hoo! Boo to cd1 but happy you & your kitchen sink are officially in with us!

@septca: I love this quote, thank you!
I will probably also be CD1 today, just waiting waiting waiting...maybe since Clomid made me ovulate this cycle, my body will make an attempt at a regular length cycle this next month too. Ha! Yeah right....

@Kelli_Deluxe: we are doing 100 mg of clomid and possible FSH based on how I respond. and of course an Ovridel trigger.

@littlek: Since I don't really understand this stuff, if all is well with your tests, how did you/your doctor decide on that as the next step? What do all those things do?
GOLD / squash / 13576 posts
@LindsayInNY: My test results were normal with the exception of a raised estrogen level. Which means, possibly, my ovaries are aging (shocker!) so he wants to be aggresive with medication. The point of the IUI is making the "perfect environment".. DH's sperm will be placed exactly where they need to go on the exact day it needs to be there and I will take P to make sure I have a fluffy home for the embryo. It's a numbers game, it ups my % of conceiving. Since I will be taking 100 mg of clomid I will most likely have more than one egg so my odds are much better. The clomid also helps produce a better quality egg.

We will try 3 rounds of IUI and if we have to move on to IVF this fall. I'm hoping (please god!) to be pregnant before then. I'm really hoping clomid + IUI is all I need.

Hi ladies!
Brand new to the boards here. I've been going it alone for the last year of ttc and feeling desperate for a little female support. I look forward to getting to know you all in time!
Cycle #: 12. April will be my 1 year anniversary trying to conceive.
Ovulation & POAS dates: Ovulated Day 23. I've a short LP (8-10 average). I'm on day 9 now. Waiting for Monday (31st) to test if AF still hasn't poked her nose out.
Favourite thing about spring: Sunshine and green. I live in London which has notoriously gray winters (and they last much longer than the ones I'm used to back home in South Carolina ). I'm ready for some vitamin D!

@RonniLeigh: Welcome, we've got a great group of ladies here! Hopefully you'll find the support you need.

@SARAHNICOLE218 and LITTLEK - Thanks so much! I was doing a bit of quiet reading through the posts earlier and was amazed at how nice everyone seemed! Pleasure to meet you both.

@LindsayInNY: I read about that pregnitude and it sounds interesting, but all the reviews were for PCOS. So, I was hesitant to purchase because I don't have PCOS or long cycles at all. Did your dr say anything about it?

Just got asked by a patient if i had any kids. When i replied no she said. Good you should thank your lucky stars! Yeah i am so grateful for my childlessness...

@littlek: What is this Pregnitude and where can I get it?! Hmmmm....I probably shouldn't take it with Metformin huh?

@Snowdrop: UGH! People really don't think before they speak. I have a coworker who always likes to tell me how she just doesn't understand how long TTC is taking for me, she can just look at a penis and get pregnant.

@AmeliaBedilia: Good luck!
@RonniLeigh: Welcome!
@Snowdrop: ARGH!! So annoying.

@Snowdrop: My other favorite it is, Enjoy it while you can! Um no, I'd much rather enjoy being a mother thanks!
Ladies, I just took an OPK with my 2nd pee of the morning and it's positive! But this is cd 11 (which is a few days early for me) and I'm really paranoid that was leftover pee from a few hours before (first morning urine). This is why I prefer my digital tests to the control line ones but of course I dumped my pee. Ugh! Normally this wouldn't matter too much except the iui has to be scheduled "perfectly." I'm off to Target an hour away.... Dare I take an OPK with me to see??

@Kelli_Deluxe: When was your last monitoring visit with your RE?
GOLD / pomegranate / 3688 posts
@Snowdrop: That's an incredibly insensitive thing to say, but it's also a cruel thing to say... how would you feel if you were that woman's child. Gah. Why are idiots so fertile???
apricot / 288 posts
@littlek: Before my first iui; these are non medicated cycles so ones we tracked my cycle, we did iui #1 with 2 rounds (the day of the positive then the following evening). We did the ultrasound that round & basically saw the egg release. Iui #2 is a "call when it's positive and we'll do it the next day"

@Kelli_Deluxe: Oohhhhhhh, was that super cool??? A couple months ago I felt exactly when O happened (must have broken some scar tissue) and it was neat to have so much knowledge (although it was annoyingly on the bad side).

@septca: It was the most awesome thing ever!! I learned so much about my body and it was so cool to see I've never once felt ovulation. I wish I was one of those people!

@littlek: @sarahnicole218: My doctor recommended it at my annual in September and I never followed through. So when she brought it up again and said she swore by it, I figured it couldn't hurt to try. It's a combo of folic acid and myo-inositol - it supports healthy eggs and ovulation. It sounds cheesy and the website looks cheesy (http://www.pregnitude.com/). It's $35 through Walgreens.com with free shipping. I just finished my first month/cycle taking it.
ETA: I don't have PCOS or long cycles either really. Seem to be consistently Oing at CD20, wth a 31-32 day cycle (without progesterone).

@littlek: Thanks for the info on your next steps... I wonder if that's where we're headed so it helps to know the reasoning behind it all
RonniLeigh: Welcome!! Friends of ours have been living in London for a couple years. If next cycle passes, we're going to visit them over (US) Thanksgiving I think!

Oh my gosh girls! I'm so busy at work that I have basically no time for HelloBee!!!!!!!! This is horrible!
@RonniLeigh: Welcome, lady! You will find tons of support here. The POAS thread is the nicest thread ever, in my humble opinion. Also, a lot of girls in HelloBee land have dealt with short luteal phases. Best of luck. Fingers crossed for you.
@littlek: Thanks for explaining a little bit about the clomid. I really hope this first IUI does the trick for you. But you still have a POAS date coming up quick even before you start the IUI process. So I'm really hoping THAT one does the trick.

Still waiting for AF, but I know it's coming. Friday is the due date of the pregnancy we lost. Sunday is Liam's 2nd birthday. I guess I'm going to be getting all the emotions out at once!
April is our (all of our) month, right?!?!?!
coffee bean / 46 posts
@Raindrop: Thank you so much.
@LindsayInNY: Oh very cool! Have you been before? I followed my husband over (before he was my husband ) a couple of years ago. November is a great time to come. It's chilly, but still fairly mild, and you'll get MUCH better plane ticket prices.
@MrsMcD: Thanks so much for the encouragement! Being over in the UK has made it especially difficult ttc because I'm away from my mom and sister who I think I would ordinarily turn to first for support and advice. I spent a lot of time combing the internet trying to figure out what my body's doing, why, and whether or not it's good or bad. Haha. I keep thinking my short LP is dooming me to be baby-less, but I'm really glad to hear that it's not the case.
@mrs. tictactoe: April is DEFINITELY our month. Hugs to you for your emotional Friday coming up.

@RonniLeigh: Friend... have you had your luteal phase issues looked into by a doctor?
coffee bean / 46 posts
@MrsMcD: I have, though the doctors here aren't fertility specialists. Due to the way NHS works, I have to go through the national health care program's GPs first. They then have to refer me to a specialist when and if they deem it necessary . My doctor thankfully has been lovely and really pro-active about testing, but we're waiting for DH to get tested before she'll refer me. I've had a progesterone blood test done (which evidently came back normal), a normal pap smear, and a transvaginal ultrasound done (which again showed everything looked as it should: ovaries good sized, dominant follicle evident, uterine lining thickness normal, etc.). I've had a short LP since I came off BC last year. I started taking agnus castus and vitamin B6, but haven't really seen any dramatic shift in LP from either to be honest. I'm wondering if perhaps my progesterone might be slightly lower than it should be for me personally, but I'm not sure whether there's an over the counter progesterone treatment available to try.

@sarahnicole218: metformin doesn't work directly on your reproductive system so I wouldn't rule pregnitude out, maybe ask your doc to make sure?
@Kelli_Deluxe: @septca: @littlek: I know! Poor children, I felt like pointing out tha no body forced her to have them. But obviously I have to be nice.
@RonniLeigh: I am in England too It is a different system here in the UK, if you would like me to share my experiences of it etc, just let me know and I'll wall you.

@Snowdrop: That would be AMAZING. I've only just started using NHS a few months ago when I started going for fertility problems. I have NO idea what I'm doing though. Guidance and suggestions would be amazing!

This will be short because posting on my phone is a pain. Welcome to all the newcomers!
Had a phone call with the director- the pay isn't great but reasonable, and I am so relieved. They're sending me the contract and details, and I might see if I can negotiate a higher salary or extra week of vacation, but it is good enough to take. We haven't hammered out start date- he is waiting to hear when a new grant is going to come through, and they prefer me to start after that. I don't really care when I start, I just want the contract decided quickly.
At least this has made the first week of the TWW go quickly!
