@Adira: 12 from the first positive - I had a very short LH surge, usually lasted only 12 hours and was gone.

@Adira: I'm glad you're thankful, but I am feeling SO the opposite about OPKs!
Although I do thoroughly enjoy peeing on ALL the things (why is that so enjoyable??), I don't think I'll be buying more OPKs when I run out. I think I'm over stressing on trying to get all the signs from all the methods to line up.
I was pretty comfortable just charting, so I have a feeling we'll go back to that unless we go several months without a BFP.

@winniebee: Would it be safe to say that my surge lasted LONGER than 12 hours since I got a positive at 6:45 a.m. and it was still positive at 8:00 p.m.?
@MaryM: I'm surprised you're feeling so negative about them! If you got a positive on Monday and are feeling ovulation cramps today - doesn't that all line up?? And I'm guessing you'll see a temp rise tomorrow!
But I hear you on charting - that used to be all I did, but since baby #1, my cycles have been so messed up, so I had to resort to something different!
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@Adira: I would say so! I never temped so it's hard for me to say for sure, it's just everything followed a pattern last time for me.

Well, I'm also only on my second cycle post MC...so I'm still sort of seeing if my body is back to "normal" (it never really was normal to start with...but whatever normal is)
So, like with the pre-O spotting, I have to wonder is this normal for most people? Is it normal post-MC? Is it normal for me (since I'm not normal anyway)?
I feel like OPKs have introduced a whole new factor of questioning and doubting what my body is doing.
though, maybe I'll change my tune if my temp does actually rise tomorrow and everything in fact lines up.
It IS oddly satisfying dipping things in a cup of pee and having them change color.

To all waiting for the roll call list to be updated... I'm on vacation with spotty wifi and it's hard to do this on the iPad! If no one is willing to update this till Sat, then I will be updating myself on Sat! Sry for the hiatus
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@MaryM: I don't have pre-O spotting and didn't have any post miscarriage but I did have longer cycles for a few months post miscarriage.

@Brawly: Thanks, Brawly! It's taking a great deal of will power not to be a nervous wreck waiting this week. I was temping up until this month, but dropped it and switched to OPKs because it was starting to stress me out a little too. I still like to "know" ('cause I'm OCD), but I didn't want it to be micromanaging things to that degree anymore. That being said, my body is pretty predictable. Since coming off BC last year I have consistently been able to tell when I'm ovulating (I get ovulation pains), and I typically ovulate around the same time (somewhere between days 20 and 23) so I generally know it's coming. What about you? Do you tend to know as well?
coffee bean / 46 posts
@MaryM: I don't know if it'll help since my spotting typically doesn't occur before ovulation, however I spot every month for about a week before AF shows up. My mom was apparently the same way, and after several ultrasounds, pap smears, and progesterone blood tests the doctors all say that everything looks normal in there. I was convinced that my spotting was somehow making it harder for me to get pregnant, but I'm not so sure anymore. TMI Warning: If the blood you see when you spot is brown or black (regardless of consistency) it is "old blood" that has just taken a while to make its way out. This could be left over from your period or could be a sign of fertility. Here is a general article on spotting which I thought was quite informative: http://www.everydayhealth.com/pms/spotting-between-periods.aspx One of the key things this article mentions about ovulation spotting is: "About 10 percent of menstruating women regularly spot at the time of ovulation due to a temporary drop in estrogen at the time the ovary releases an egg."
And here's one specifically related to ovulation spotting: http://www.ovulation-calculator.com/spotting.htm This article suggests spotting may be due to the rupturing of the ovarian follicle at ovulation.

@MaryM: I had ovulation spotting this cycle. First time for me! Thought "Oh great! Now what is my body doing?!" Even told DH maybe he was too rough? Lol- tmi?
Then did a bit of research - turns out it's a great sign of fertility. So I'm taking it as a good omen and keeping my fingers crossed!

Help!!
I have never been more confused in my life..... Have any of you ever had a positive OPK then a drastic "negative" (faint) later in the day??
I tested late morning like usual (2nd bathroom trip) and got a positive but I wondered if maybe it was still part of my first morning urine since it was a few hours later with nothing to drink. So a few hours later I tested again and the OPK was faint. A couple more hours & I tested again, still faint. Am I crazy? I also tested yesterday & it was faint so I don't think I missed it.

@Adira: I wish I'd used OPKs this cycle, I've never used them before but I really want a better idea of my O window. I'm kind of in the dark right now!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@keepcalmcarrie: Are you charting? I have never used OPKs before either but charting worked fine for me the first time around. This time post-baby, my cycles are totally wonky and not consistent, so I had to resort to getting some extra help!
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@Kelli_Deluxe: well I had a super short lh surge while TTC for my first. I would get a positive opk for maybe 12 hrs. And I would get a fade in and fade out pattern like you are describing. Sounds like you are about to ovulate.

@Kelli_Deluxe: Lh surges can be super short. Some people even miss them all together with regular testing. Do you have a picture of your positive?

Temps are still up today! Which makes me think I'm probably 2 DPO. And now I've totally got my hopes up because our timing seemed perfect (O-2, O-1, O) (or possibly O-1, O, O+1), so I'm going to be soooooo crazy bummed if we don't see a BFP!
BUT enough of that! Since I ovulated earlier than I was expected, my new POAS date is April 12th!
grape / 92 posts
Cycle day: 29
Cycle : # 9
Ovulation & POAS dates: Not sure if / when i ovulated. Would estimate latest 18 April for POAS date
Baby # 1
Game plan this month: Not going to try so hard this month and obsess or symptom spot.
pomelo / 5129 posts
So, my temp finally rose, but only .3. I'm hoping I'll see that last 10th tomorrow to confirm O. I had some pretty intense cramps at the end of the day yesterday so I'm pretty certain I did in fact O! (unless it was a cyst. Sometimes I really wish there was a way to see my ovaries to know what's going on!)
@kelli_deluxe, I've only done the OPKs this one month, but it was only super dark late in the day. The morning before and morning after, it was faint again. Maybe you just have a short surge?
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@MaryM: Your + OPK and temp rise timing are in line with exactly what I experienced! I think .3 is a pretty decent temp rise though. Mine is only .2 higher than a lot of my temps pre-ovulation this cycle. Hoping we both see a BFP in a couple weeks!
pomegranate / 3045 posts
@MaryM: My temp rise this past cycle was .4, but that's mainly because I have a dip at O. It was really only .2 above my coverline. Hopefully it keeps going up!!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@winniebee: @theotherstark: Thanks ladies!! But now I'm trying really hard not to get my hopes up too high! I know even with perfect timing, I still only have a 20-30% chance of getting pregnant, but it's sooooo hard not to get so hopeful!

@Kelli_Deluxe: So I'm not an OPK pro, but it sounds like maybe you have a short surge? I know that when I got my positive, it was pretty dark 8:00 p.m. Sunday night, but Monday morning, it was light light light. So maybe you surged overnight, caught it in the morning, and then it was gone later in the day?

I think I'll actually be somewhere closer to the 9th or 11th...but close enough!

Also, I realized yesterday was the first day in a week I didn't pee on anything.
I feel like I'm missing something or partially naked somehow...

@Adira: yay you are the best!!
And I just realize you can bold things lol which make the list so much nicer!

@Adira: @MrsHansen82: @winniebee: @MaryM: Here's a photo.... Today is CD 12; directly below is the morning positive I referred to yesterday, to the right is yesterday afternoon around 3:30p

I guess I'm just so confused bc I usually don't see the surge til late morning and it was 3 days early (my body is clockwork), annnnd I didn't think it would go away after 5hrs of holding urine for the afternoon test (I drank 1 bottle of water over the 5hrs)
pomelo / 5129 posts
@Kelli_Deluxe: I think this is why I'm not all "over the moon" about OPKs. I find them confusing too!
Do you also chart so you can verify by temps when you ovulate? That first one definitely looks like a + to me...
Is it possible the Day 11 PM one was with diluted urine? I found some of my PM ones were super light because I tend to drink a lot during the daytime.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Kelli_Deluxe: I just want to clarify what I'm seeing... you got a negative on CD 10, a positive CD 11 AM, a negative CD 11 PM, and another positive CD 12??
apricot / 288 posts
@MaryM: I don't temp.... It stresses me out! I don't feel like I drank enough to dilute it in the time span but I guess my body thought otherwise? I have to schedule my iui but now I'm thinking it needs to be this afternoon if I was positive yesterday morning
@Adira: Correct!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Kelli_Deluxe: Oh, weird! In the case, I have no idea what's going on!
persimmon / 1167 posts
Goodness Gracious! April is almost here. It's on our tails! I think I will test on April 6th if AF hasn't arrived.
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@Kelli_Deluxe: I think CD 11 was your surge. I used to get a fade in and fade out on wandfos. It doesn't mean you ovulated yet but means today or tomorrow is likely. I prefer digital ovulation tests less to interpret. But pricey!
apricot / 288 posts
@winniebee: I think you're right. I normally use digitals but this month & last month to make sure I caught it for the IUI's I bought cheapies to test twice a day! I just messaged my doctor so hopefully I can get iui #2 done this evening! Thank you!
@Radish: That's just never happened before! But I think you're right!
