Hey everyone! So excited that we only have four more days of March and we can get this party started (cheering on an end of march testers though!)

CD 8 over here and just came back from acupuncture! I highly recommended it. I found a place that does sliding scale and can get treatments for 25 bucks a pop. I worked with a woman who works with local midwives so she really knows her fertility and prenatal stuff. I am gonna aim for once a week this month and see how it affects me. I found it very relaxing.

Also we are still sick over here but on the mend.

@MrsMccarthy: does it hurt at all? I'm really interested in acupuncture but I'm a bit freaked out by it...

Got my first blinky smile face!! What does that mean!? Who knows! I've had months with 6 days of blinky faces and I have had months with only 1 since MC. We shall see. I tried my first Wandfo strip and there is a super faint line but super faint... so i think I'm at least a couple of days out from O.

@Mrs.Lilac: doesn't hurt but you can feel a slight pinch sometimes and if you do something weird like flex your foot you might feel a bit of a spasm for a second. I was nervous too but I really enjoyed it.

@MrsMccarthy: So interesting. I've always wanted to try acupuncture. Maybe I'll give it a shot this month. I did book a massage for next week. I've been feeling stressed and I don't want that to impede my chances this month.

@Brawly: Yay! Blinky face means an estrogen surge has been detected I think. Or at least the start of one. Fingers crossed for you O comes soon.

@Adira: Will keep you posted. I'm STILL waiting for AF to show up. I've been spotting for about 10 days now though, so I'm concerned something is very wrong. Dr. visit scheduled for next Friday. Assuming AF shows up soon though, I'd be testing toward the end of April. Ugh. The stress!

@Brawly: Good luck Brawley! I feel like I have no idea what the hell my body is doing post MC either. Not that I was ever what most people could consider "normal" before...but now I wonder about every little thing and whether or not it's a result of the MC!

So, as of this morning I'm still .02 degrees away from my .4 temp rise. That's close enough to call it already, right?? lol

Now I totally understand why TCOYF suggests not using thermometers that measure to the hundredth degree! Too bad I already had three of those when I read the book.

So we are skipping this cycle and I'm only on CD10 but all week I have had pregnancy like symptoms. I'm so glad I'm not in the TWW because I would be going insane.

Ugh. Well I'm CD 16 and no sign of the EWCM that I'm used to seeing. Past couple days I've seen a little stretchy CM, but it was more creamy/sticky and looked nothing like what I'm used to seeing this close to O. Also had some very red blood mixed in today. I took an OPK and there was a squinter line, which I wasn't expecting this close to O, which is CD17. I'm guessing I'm going to O late this cycle, again. Still going to inject some preseed and BD everyday this weekend and see what happens...

@HellOnHeels: I'm right there with you at CD 16. No EWCM here either, though I never have much.

I broke down and started using the CBE Advanced Dig Ovulation tests the other day. Negative on CD 14 and 15 and got a peak today on CD 16....which is in line for O on CD 18 like last month. Gotta get busy b/c my husband has been MIA this week due to work.

  20. HellOnHeels

    clementine / 899 posts

@winniebee: Bah, stupid TTC. I usually have watery or globs of EWCM at this time, so it's unusual. I had a temp spike on CD14 and it stayed high this AM, though I took it earlier and after I had woken up only 2 hours before, so I'm really hoping its a fluke and we didn't miss it and only BD'd once. I guess we'll see what my temp does tomorrow.

Glad you got a peak reading! Get on with that sexy time tonight!!

So I just posted this in the March board by accident... so I apologize if this is the second time you have seen this.

So... funny thing. I just learned something about ovulation that I didn't know... I cant believe that between TTC the first time and this time I didn't know this already. I always thought that O occurred pretty much during your LH surge, I mean I knew that typically they say you ovulate the day after you get your positive OPK, but even that can be kind of misleading. Or at least it was to me, I have almost always BD the day I get my positive or my Peak fertility because I thought that if I waited till the next day I would probably be too late, which from what I just found out couldn't be more false. So ladies back me up or tell me if I'm totally wrong because I may not be the only one with this misconception (sorry I'm rambling).
    1. Lets say you are lucky enough to catch your surge at the beginning and not the end, so i guess testing multiple times a day, You get a + opk and you have your LH Surge. yay!!
    2. Then 24 to 48 hours AFTER THAT is when your egg bursts from the ovary and you ovulate. (this is what I didn't know.)
    3. That egg can then be fertilized for potentially 12-24 hours AFTER that. So really you could get preg 1 to 2 1/2 days (approx) after you get your positive OPK... so I shouldn't stop BDing on day of positive OPK!!! Mind Blown. I'm really feeling good about this month now that I know this.

  22. winniebee

    hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts

@Brawly: I think all of that is accurate except my understanding is that you ovulate 12-36 hours after your LH surge first begins. But that's why bd on ovulation and day after is successful too!!

  23. Brawly

@winniebee: Thank you Winniebee! That helps!

  24. MaryM

    pomelo / 5129 posts

@Brawly: It took me a while to figure that out too. This was my first month using OPKs and I was going insane wondering why I hadn't Oed yet.

and then, step 4. It can take ANOTHER 48 hours for your BBT to rise!

The more I learn, the more time it seems to take everything to happen!

  25. Brawly

    cherry / 173 posts

@MaryM: I dont know why!? This is just so crazy to me. Now Im REALLY excited to O! Thank you!

  26. Mrs.Lilac

    apricot / 348 posts

@Brawly: I totally didn't realise this either until this cycle (thanks to HB). I always pretty much stopped BDing on when I thought I O'ed according to OPKs but yeah, we need to continue for a few more days. Also massive learning curve that it is possible to DTD too much! Without HB I would be clueless I swear!

  27. Brawly

    cherry / 173 posts

@Mrs.Lilac: O man, im embarrassed to ask. What is DTD?

  28. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@MaryM: Wait - really?? It can take up to 48 hours after you ovulate to see a rise in temp??? I didn't know that!

  29. winniebee

    hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts

    @Brawly: Do the Deed!

  30. MaryM

    pomelo / 5129 posts

@Adira: Yep. or up to 48 hours for the complete .4 rise that confirms ovulation.

If you wait for your BBT rise, it's possibly too late (unless you have long lasting eggs)

As long as I'm in fact "normal"...My positive OPK showed up Monday evening. I'm fairly certain I Oed on Wednesday, and while my BBT rise started yesterday, it was up to .38 today (hoping for the whole .4 tomorrow)

I kept googling and reading to make sure I could in fact be ovulating, and it seems the whole process can take up to 5 or 6 days and you can still be "normal"

  31. Brawly

    cherry / 173 posts

@Adira: Crap, I hope im not confusing people. I don't know about temp rise... i am not temping. I think its 24-48 after you see a positive on OPK (LH surge). I was thinking that when your temp rise occurred you had already ovulated.

  32. Mrs.Lilac

    apricot / 348 posts

@Brawly: yep, doing the deed/dance! Apparently, if you do it too often, it can effect the quality of the sperm.

  33. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@MaryM: Oh, 48 hours for you to see the .4+ rise - okay.

@Brawly: You didn't confuse me. I just thought the temp rise was always the DAY after you ovulate. I only use the temps to confirm ovulation anyway - not to predict anything.

  34. Brawly

    cherry / 173 posts

@Mrs.Lilac: O! DTD! I like it. Gotcha. What do you think qualifies as too often? Do you think once a day for like 3 days is too often?

  35. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Mrs.Lilac: What's considered too much??? Is everyday okay?

  36. Brawly

    cherry / 173 posts

@Adira: Haha! you just asked the same question I did! And yes, I assumed the temp rise would be next day as well!!! I think its incredible that anybody ever unintentionally gets pregnant, its like your chances without planning would be like winning the lottery.

  37. LBee

    pomegranate / 3895 posts

@Adira: @Brawly: Jumping in to say that if your husband is assumed to have normal motility then DTD even every other day won't hurt things. Moreover, not DTD enough can also have a negative impact because sperm can die and the firm "sample" so to speak is not fresh.

  38. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Brawly: Maybe those people that have oops pregnancies are having more sex than I am...?

@BakerBee: I used to be (and probably mostly still am) a DTD EOD girl, but I did OPKs this cycle, so when I got a positive, we DTD every day for three days. Do you think that's okay? Or is that TOO often??

  39. Brawly

    cherry / 173 posts

@Adira: OMG, you just made me LOL at work. You and me both! Hahaha!

Cervical mucous is a sticky consistency now, so, I'm going to assume ovulation actually really worked this time and I'm 2 DPO. Am hoping that that this 2ww is really only 2 weeks -- no more "oops, that wasn't really ovulation yet".
