@swedishfish: You can order pdf files on etsy that look like a chalkboard for like $15. Then you get the look without spending all the money.

I think they are becoming overdone like chevron, but I like them so I don't give a damn. So I made one.

I've never seen one IRL, only online. When/if I do one for LO's birthday, I'm pretty sure everyone will think I'm super cool, haha.
So no, I don't think they're overdone.

I made one for my LO last year! I think they are cute
I made mine in Illustrator and had it printed at Costco because my handwriting is terrible.

Online everyone seems to do them, but when I made one for my DS no one on real life had seen it before and everyone thought it was awesome at his party.

I adore the look of chalkboard and nice handwriting! There is something about it that reminds me of a classic childhood nostalgia. Besides, the look of good handwriting never goes out it style.

I did one toward the end of last year! I don't think everyone IRL thought it was overdone... Not everyone has attended a one year old (or very young) bday party recently. And even I they are becoming common I still like them for the stats!
But to be fair I'm not that creative and don't spend much time trying to do things in a unique way!

I think they're super cute and a great way to commemorate the occasion! We did one for my LO and I'm making one for a friend whose daughter turns one next week.
