I've had my eye on them for a while but can't bring myself to pay that much for something I'm unsure if my LO's will enjoy. I'm pretty sure they would but man they are expensive! Do you think they are worth it? If you have them how often does your LO play with them?

We have them and she plays with them sporadically. She is currently using them as extra train tracks.

I think they are a cool toy, but my kids don't play with them very often. We got them as a gift, but I don't think I would spend the money on them because you might not get the reaction you would expect for the price!

We bought DS some but he wasn't too impressed. He has played with Magformers before and I think he liked them better (they are cheaper too)!

they were so worth it for us because my daughter plays with them daily ever since we got them.. nearly 2 years ago. she builds so many cool things with them. it's great for pretend play too! she uses them in conjunction with her little people and other figurines and cars.

@lilyann: My nephew has that set also, and loves them! I wanted to get him an expansion for Christmas, but I'm not made of millions of dollars (aka why SO expensive?!)

I even saw some that were cheaper than the magformers but I can't find them now.

@swurlygurl: magnets in general are really expensive, and these are made of really strong magnets.
@BabyBoecksMom: we have a smaller set of a cheap alternative - it was crap compared to the magnatiles. so weak so structures don't stay put the way they do with magnatiles. they were called "metro mags".

My son is OBSESSED with magna tiles. It's his favorite toy.

@Mrs. High Heels: Yeah, I learned that after watching an episode of Shark Tank. I scour Craigslist like a crazy person for them. I've set up alerts for them, and haven't seen a single listing for them in over a year!

@Bao: I bought a set of 100 for 90$ off of a website. They're a Christmas gift and haven't gotten them yet but lo loves to build and is obsessed with magnets. I hope she gets use out of them because they were expensive!!

There is a toy store called creative kid stuff not too far from us that allows kids to play with the toys too. So when we were there I showed them to him and he was not interested at all. He loves Legos so I thought he might like building with them but for him it was a no-go. Every kid is so different in what they love and what interests them!

DD who is 31m plays with her magformers daily. We've had had them for about 6m and she's only only recently started playing daily with them.
I will agree that the structures built are not very sturdy! I've I've tried looking for magna tiles on sale or used to. No avail.

I have taken DD to play centers that had them she seemed to kind of enjoy them but wasn't blown away. I will probably hold off until her 3rd birthday to get some.

@Raindrop: 100% worth it for us. My kids play with it everyday still. It's the one toy that they can play independently for hours on. We had a cheaper alternative and the magnets were not as strong, so I boxed them up and plan on donating them. It was more frustrating for the kids bc their structures kept on collapsing so easily.

Our daycare has a set and the kids love them! His teacher was telling me that he can spend all of his free play time laying with them. I'm considering getting some for our house too (once we donate some old toys... Too many toys!) oh and he turned 3 at the end of March.

@Raindrop: We have two 100-pc sets. One was a gift, and another we bought! This probably amounts to one set because some other pieces are scattered elsewhere, and in the pic you can see there's still a bunch on the floor.

We haven't bought a set but I think they would be worth it. My daughter is 2.5 and plays with them all the time at daycare. Some days, she will even tell me "I didn't do magnatiles today because they were closed" (they rotate the centers activities) which I think means she missed them that much! haha

We're planning on getting E a set for Christmas this year "from new sibling". He plays with them at daycare occasionally and I know he loves them so I think it'll be worth the cost.

We have Picasso tiles which I think are good but I can't really compare them to the strength of magna tiles. My 3 yo doesn't necessarily play with them every day but he does enjoy them. My DH and I have fun with them too!

@shellio: I was looking at picasso tiles! They are quite a bit cheaper and *almost* everywhere says they are just as good. Thank you for your comment I was hoping someone here would say something like this!

we went in on a 100 pc set with my parents for my 3 yr old's 3rd birthday. they looovvvee them! it took a few weeks to really love them, but now him and his younger brother play with them every day. i'd like to get another 100 pc set eventually. they are definitely the most $$ toy they have.
our 6 and 8 year old friends who come by often to play LOVE them too and play with them every time they are over. I think they will last my boys a long long time! hope so, anyway.
I even saw some that were cheaper than the magformers but I can't find them now.
