Yes! They think she's younger because she is small, but then she opens her mouth and they start talking about how she must be 3 or 4 (she is almost 3).

Kinda, b/c she is the youngest of her year but keeps up well with others her year. Then she also looks younger (not big in size, and still not much hair) but then speaks/acts like she's much older than she looks!

Yes because she's small. I no longer guess other people's children's ages.

What surprises me about people's guesses about LO is the number of people who ask how old she is (4) and then exclaim how BIG she is for her age - - - ummm, LO is less than 10% for height. She's not big for her age. Like, at all.

Most people think he's older because he's a bigger boy. He's not really that big but he has a baby face and curls still so I think they assume he is younger until they see how tall he is.

@sorrycharlie: Yes, people are surprised he isn't older bc he is on the bigger side ... it gets old TBH.

Lately people are surprised that they are the same age! Blake is taller and just looks older, I guess. I get asked a lot what their age difference is and always get a shocked reaction when I say Alice is older by 10 minutes!

@LBee: Stalker! What's so funny to me is how teeny tiny Blake was when he was born and now he's so tall! Alice is going to be short like me and DH. Poor thing!

So we get it in two directions, DS is 3y4m and is 97%/98% for height and weight. If I told people he's 5 they wouldn't blink an eye. He's wearing clothes for 6-7 year olds. DD on the other hand is small and skinny and people have often thought she's a little younger. Being thought of as younger is definitely better than the other way around because then expectations are always higher.

My 3 year old people are usually not surprised. She's average sized and while she actually does talk a lot for her age, she's quieter around new people.

My 8 month old I have had a few people think she's like 4 months. Again, completely average size so I don't really know why.

Always. Most people think she is 4 because she is really tall and verbal (she is 2.5). She spells her name when she introduces herself so that really throws people off.

People always think DD is much younger than she is. She's 25 pounds at 3.5 so I can't blame them.

Usually they guess my LO is older b/c she's 90% for both weight and height and her motor development has been faster than average.

Both of my boys are always mistaken for older. My oldest is on the bigger side but is also very physically adept and athletic so seems older. My youngest is huge and people gasp when I tell them how old he is. He is 7 months and in 18 month clothes!!

Everyone thinks lo is much older, he's 17 months and looks 2+. I often have to explain that he is still a baby... It's hard.

He's pretty big for his age but definitely acts like a 2 year old boy, so most people guess correctly. Though people are often shocked when they hear him talk - he is quite advanced verbally.
