Hurmm.. currently, no!

I had a crazy amount of debt when DH married me and he was debt free. HAHA. We had some fun (-.-) convos about my debt when we first got married--especially since he had to pay it off ha! So glad those days are over..

His parents are always so.damn.late to everything. I totally click with my in laws but not enough to get after them when they're late. That's his job! But he doesn't do it. I am talking... A good 1.5h late to every BBQ, every birthday and every gathering. In fact, when we go over for dinner at 6...we don't eat until 8 because his mom hasn't cooked yet. So every time we invite them or they invite us: it turns into an argueing battle between me and DH. Ugh!

@TurtleDoves: Can you guys start telling them a time 1.5 before the event starts?

Football and college for our lo. We went to rival schools.

DH dips and it drives me totally, totally up the wall. He smokes cigars socially too...so the whole nicotine addiction is a constant touchy subject/source of frustration!!!

My husband is always making us run late and it really frustrates me.

@mrbee: haha WE DO (so sad we've resorted to this)! I did it once and DH was so nervous that they'd actually show up on time for once. But they didn't and it worked out perfectly.
It doesn't work for things like my baby shower or the birth of their first grandchild (which I am SURE they will completely miss despite living 15m from the hospital)

His parents. Before I came along, him and his brother's lives revolved around their parents. His mother monopolized all of their free time and fully convinced herself that her sons (both avid gamers and movie addicts) didn't want to do anything else but chop whatever tree she wanted and garden for her all day. To this day, she still convinces herself that they do it because they like it and not because they're merely trying to make her happy.

Therein lies my problem and the reason we argue 99% of the time. When a woman is so used to getting exactly her way for years, she becomes incapable of thinking outside herself. Although we don't spend as much time with them anymore, I feel guilty for it, not because DH prefers to, but I know it's what he's used to. I'm conflicted with his parent's expectations of using their kids as entertainment and just living our own lives.

His family as other PPs have mentioned.

His mother is attached to him. It's ridiculous. She acts like a jealous girlfriend. It drives me nuts, but he still thinks it's normal. I could go into so much more detail, but I will spare you!

@Mrsdaredevil: Do we have the same mother in law? When me and DH were first dating she wanted to take us out to breakfast. She insisted on driving so me and DH sat in the back of the car. She pouted the whole day saying that DH should have sat up front with her. She always does this kind of stuff though.

They seem to have a really weird relationship. We were out at the bar once with her and she kept flashing everyone, she didn't care that her son say her 55 yr old boobs? OMG I could have died!

But ya, we don't talk about his family at all lol.

Money, just in the sense that I make a little more so I have more spending money available to me and that kinda frustrates him I think. I think secretly too he feels bad when I get bonuses and stuff. We haven't been able to get our schedules together to go to the bank and make everything joint (which is what we finally decided) so I think that will help him feel more like it's "our" money instead of mine and his.

Politics and social issues, because he doesn't care at all and goes to great lengths to say so. He doesn't vote or anything. And it really pisses me off. Then I bring up some sort of issue and get myself all worked up when he doesn't give a crap. I step in it every single time...

And his mom. Sometimes I roll my eyes, she's very protective and overly lovey and stuff and he gets really pissed off at me when I react. Oops!

Our families are the touchiest subject for us... Everything else seems so easy compared to that! Particularly who we spend Christmas with. Everyone lives far away from each other and we typically only see each other once a year or two.

Money isn't as much a touchy subject for us as it is we just don't like to talk about it.

@ladyfingers: oh my freakin' lanta... ummm... wow. speechless. I would have been sooo upset. and hurt. and probably held it against her for quite the while.

The one HUGE touchy subject between us is his mother. It's not that she is mean or bad or anything - but she's just too much for me. And I've tried, I have honestly tried my hardest to keep an open mind, be kind, patient, understanding, keep my mouth shut etc... and I just can't anymore. I think it's funny to crack jokes about her because she does/says some crazy things that are just out there - but DH takes it SOOO personally and offensively. He gets so hurt and upset and one time he actually told me I'm a mean person. After that night (there was a huge fight after he called me mean) I have avoided it.
