for DD there are 2 ways - most people spell it correctly but I admit when its wrong it does bug me!! Especially since I used the normal spelling

@lawbee11: my natural assumption is to spell M's name with a Y!

DD's name apparently can be spelled 10 different ways, but the way we picked to be spelled is most common (I think). Guess we'll see!

Unfortunately, yes. We spell it in the classic French way (Madeleine) but there are so many creative alternatives these days: Madeline, Madalyn, Madalynn, Madelyn, Madelynn...

Not that I know of, thankfully. Although people constantly misspell DS1's nickname. It drives me crazy.

My name is a common name but spelled weird. I hated it growing up, so I was determined to give my LO a regular spelling name.

There are technically 2 spellings (Elizabeth and Elisabeth). But spelling it with a z is much more common (which is the spelling we chose). DD also goes by a nn anyway.

Yes, for DS(Grayson) People spell it with an e instead of an a. I'll even correct them, or spell it the right way and they still spell it wrong.

I don't think their is an alternative way to spell Aurora.

I always have people spelling my name wrong. It's annoying, but I'm so used to it by now, that half the time I don't even correct them/say anything.

We chose names with very simple spellings and pronunciations, although I suppose you could throw a Y into Alice's name if you wanted to be unique. Our last name is misspelled all the time. People want to add an E, because that's the more common spelling.

There are a few ways to spell LO1's name, but no one has spelled it the wrong way so far. There is only one way to spell LO2's name.

Not my DD1 full name, it's the most common spelling, but her nickname can have a Y or and ie, even though I think just ending in "e" is more common so that gets commonly misspelled.

DD2 it's pretty straight forward so no one has misspelled yet.

We intentionally chose names with only one spelling. My name is commonly spelled two different ways (with an I or an E) and it's just very annoying, though I don't usually correct people.

So both our girls names have one spelling- though someone once asked me if C's name was spelled with an H. I was like, No... Where would you put an H?

Same name as @lawbee11: so same issue. I've noticed that younger people spell it wrong more often than others (like if we go to play place at the girl doing name tags is a teenager she might assume the ie spelling). Interestingly the name was quite popular around the 1880s with the ie spelling, and then when it made a come back it was with the y spelling.

Her name is Zoey so there are a million ways. It doesn't bother me when it's spelled wrong, I knew it was likely because of the amount of spellings. LO2 is Coraline/Cora. She's been called Caroline once but people are great about spelling her name correctly even though I guess Kora is an alternate.

@Foodnerd81: An H on the end??? I know a guy whose daughter's middle name is Grace but spelled Grayce. It makes me crazy!

No alternate spelling for Evan or Grace, at least not a commonly accepted one. That was actually one of D's criteria, no common alternates (like Sarah/Sara, although one of those is just wrong )

@lovehoneybee: yup- the H would have been at the end. I guess her SIL was naming her baby the same name but spelling it like Sarah. Awful! It caught me off guard though!

There are two accepted ways to spell DD1's name and we choose the more common spelling in the US. Sometimes people will add an h to her nickname, but that doesn't really bother me.

Dd2 is too soon to tell but I'm getting more questions about which way to pronounce. I think we picked the more common version in our area. Haven't settled on a nickname for her yet. There are a couple we like.

You can spell it with a c or k. It is most common with a c and we spell it with k. Naturally, a LOT of people, including our friends/family, spell it with a c. It doesn't really bother me.

None for my son, but there are 3 spellings for my daughter's name. Everyone always leaves the e off the end of her name.

I feel like Jessie is a no brainer. "ie" is the feminine spelling. Sydney on the other hand has many different ways and even though I feel we chose the most common many people spell it differently. My grandmother spells it Sydni which I've never seen.
