A lot of people at my work wear shorts. I don't, but I do love wearing jeans to work!

We couldn't wear shorts except for bermuda length and even then, that was pushing it. Most people only did it on days the principal was gone.

We can if they are longer shorts, so more of bermuda shorts that are khaki and patterned. Most of the staff are only allowed to wear jeans on Friday, but I work in an Autism classroom so I'm allowed to wear them all week (because we have to chase and even put kids into holds sometimes) and so I have dresser denim trousers.

I can. I could probably wear pajamas and it wouldn't matter.

I COULD wear anything I wanted to, since I'm a doula, but I put a lot of effort into being professional, so I wouldn't.

No shorts for me. Our legs have to be covered, so jeans or any other type of pants are fine. No shorts or skirts. I wish we could, especially during the hot months, but it's a safety thing.

I have seen women do it, but it is very odd, mostly because Europeans aren't big shorts wearers to begin with.

nope, i did it once (dress shorts from limited) and got "the eye" from coworkers a couple summers back... we do have casual fridays but i usually wear jeans.

I would KILL for jeans on Fridays. Shorts are definitely not in the realm of possibilities.

Negatory on shorts so I wear dresses and skirts in the summer.

I've never worked anywhere that allowed shorts but some places allowed jeans.

When I worked I could only wear jeans fridays too. I'm not a shorts fan so I wouldn't want to wear them anyway.

Yes, we can wear them but I don't! I think our dress code only covers footwear- no flip flops!

We can't even wear capris! And no denim, either. Only on special "Denim Days" where you pay $5 to buy a pin or sticker to wear it (the money goes to a charity or cause). I work in a hospital where they're going to "scrub uniforms" for all the clinical staff, ie, RNs in navy, PTs in light blue, LPNs in purple, etc. We really want them to roll out that social workers get a scrub uniform, too - it would make our lives so much easier! For now, though, it's strictly business casual. Oh, and no open-toed shoes (booo!)

@mrsdoily: you're brave to wear shorts! maybe your kids are higher functioning than DH's students, but he tries to keep as much skin covered and wears as much denim/thick fabric as possible. he is covered in scars from his students =(

Nope...I could do "walking shorts" or longer bermuda shorts or something, but only in a nicer fabric (not like madras print or anything). Jeans on fridays though (and during the week if it's raining!).

I dress up knee length chino/khaki shorts in the summer time But I usually reserve it for extremely hot days or Fridays.
Jeans are fine, most people do on Fridays and I always dress it up.

I do all the time in the summer. My FIL has tried implementing a dress code for the office plenty of times, but we all rebel at some point. I visit other construction offices regularly, and most are really casual around here, so I don't feel bad. I like dressing up, but after multiple trips to the mechanics' shop or jobsites in heels, it just isn't worth it. And I'm in Florida, so it's seriously hot.

No way. We are business formal Monday thru Thursday and business casual on Friday in the summer only, which was just instituted last year! I actually like it. Takes the hassle out of finding an outfit to wear every day, I just slap on a shirt and a suit. Easy!
