Do you do anything special with your kids for Valentine's Day? Last year we made cupcakes and went to hibachi for dinner (big hit!). My husband also gets the candy and a stuffie. I'm not sure what we will do this year. Maybe the same!

This is the first year I feel like he will understand a little so I'm probably going a little overboard but I am so excited! I really like Valentine's Day, more than Halloween for sure.
I got him a little heart shaped box of chocolates, a book, a card, a shirt to wear to school, and I'll probably get him a red die cast car to add to his collection. I also plan on making cut out cookies for us to decorate (I made them last year but he was a little too young - but I did it for Christmas and he loved it).

Card, box of candy and flowers. A girl should always get flowers on valentine's day!!

We will probably make cookies or something together. And usually DH gets a little stuffed animal for them. Nothing big. And willmake a point to dress them both in pink/red/hearts but that won't be hard!

Since it often just falls on a school or work day, I will try to set the table up pretty the night before. Let them open maybe one small gift before school. Maybe make heart pancakes or something simple. Then a yummy dinner!

I got them each a heart shaped tin of Star Wars shaped chocolates with Darth Vader on the front of the tin. I thought it was very amusing.

DH is taking LO1 to Daddy-Daughter date night at CFA on the 4th. You have to make reservations and they wait on you like a real restaurant. I forget what else they do special. They are going to both dress up and he is going to bring her flowers when he picks her up. I will probably do some baking with her or a craft. We will get something little for both girls. I already bought a book for the baby.

I'll have her help me make cards for her grandparents, and I'll give her some Valentine's Day stickers.

I got her a Valentine's Lego kit and those growing sponge capsule things. I'll put them in the little mailbox we decorated for her along with a Valentine in an envelope because mail is super exciting right now. Probably a piece of candy or some fruit snacks too.

I hit up Wal-Mart's clearance (if you have one near you check it out, all the leftover holiday stuff marked at like 75% off!)
I got them each a sleeping bag ($5) and a duel Barbie pack for $2.50. I plan on throwing in a little candy/snacks and calling it good!

Daddy always gets his girls a stuffie. I've requested that he give his girls flowers as well. He brought C a rose the past two years (started at 3). He'll need to get both girls flowers this year. I told him that I don't care what the flower is or how many, but I think its a great gesture for him to give his girls flowers.
And I specifically request that he NOT get them for me

I'm sure she'll do something at daycare but maybe I'll get everyone a little treat.

I will get him something and make it special but I'm not sure what. Maybe I'll venture out to Target at some point.

We have Ts orthopedic follow up and a new set of x-rays at Shriners on Valentine's Day- I planned it this way so we could go to a fancy lunch/brunch downtown afterwards.
I also got some crafts to do with our friends the Sunday before.

@psw27: I bought allll the things at the Target one spot yesterday including a felt banner- so cute.

@winniebee: This is his second valentine's day and he may know what's up this time (14 months)?? Haha. I want to do heart shaped pancakes, and we got him a little toy. It's not valentine's related but it's a cute little bathtub doll that is "dirty" til you wash him off!

I'll get DD some candy and she'll get flowers or a balloon from DH. I think I'll get her a valentines book. She's got one from every other holiday almost.

DS will be 10 months so I'm getting him the Llama Llama I Love You board book for a little treat

I don't think we did anything, but maybe I should because I know the oldest would especially love it.

No no no no! Valentine's Day is for lovers. Not toddlers, or their little toddler classmates. But I'm clearly in the minority here, so I'm afraid my quest against the proliferation of little pink hearts and related junk in my house is doomed

I bought him some treats and a few new puzzles at the dollar store. We might make some mini cupcakes because he loves doing that.

@sugarpea: That was DD first Valentine's book at 11 months. It's perfect for that age.
This year, I'm thinking of doing Foxy in Love and a jellycat fox. I always got a tiny gift on Valentine's morning growing up and I'd like to do that too!

Just some little things - a card, a few chocolates and some 2-packs of Shopkins. I'll get a little stuffed animal or small car for H (11 mo)

I got DD a book and some stickers. We'll probably do something special for breakfast.

@fancyfunction: @sugarpea: we read that book year round! It's the only holiday book I don't put away. My 2yo loves it still.

I haven't thought about it yet. DD loves to help in the kitchen so I might make cookies with her and get her a book.

It's DD's birthday! we got her a "love" theme book in addition to her birthday gifts. We'll have pizza for dinner because it's her fav.
I think once we have a future LO we will do Valentine's the weekend before so DD doesn't have to share her day.
pomegranate / 3375 posts
We'll grab a cupcake after school, and DH will make dinner ... since we've been together (12 years), he always makes a really fun v-day dinner.
I'll probably get a little shirt for her to wear to school that day.

@Mama Bird: Ha! I look at Valentine's Day as a day for LOVE, in general.

@Mama Bird: haha! My parents always made He day a little special for us growing up and I loved it

Last year DH got a box of chocolate dipped strawberries in a fancy box from Edible Arrangements and DD still remembers it (she is currently 3). When we talked about Valentine's Day, she brought that up so I guess that is now our tradition.

I think I will gift my son a fossil kit. I don't do "themed" stuff a lot, so I won't get him Valentine stuff or things with hearts on it.
kiwi / 635 posts
@Mama Bird: haha!!
I love that you get your daughters flowers.. Mine is only 11 mo but I'll bring it up to my husband- I would loove it if he got her flowers every v-day
This doesn't necessarily have to be on vday but my daughter's bday is in February so I plan to throw a Valentine's Day party every year (and celebrate her bday then too)

I would love to do something fun, but my due date is Valentine's Day so I'll either have a very new baby, or be extremely pregnant and irritable so I'm going to aim for next year. Lol! I'll likely get DD a little treat, and if I've got the energy make some heart shaped pancakes. DH will get some sort of candy. I better get flowers and lots of chocolate, especially if I'm still pregnant

Nope! probably I will have my oldest help my make valentines for her class, and maybe one for Daddy and her teachers and our nanny, and little sister. She'll get valentines from her classmates. That's enough for us. I don't want it to be a big gift holiday.

I try to ignore VD as much as possible. We celebrate our relationship on our anniversary. Neither my husband nor I are interested in VD.

We usually keep it low key. The kids make homemade valentines and we make some type of treat at home.
