I cannot STAND IT when people are late. I'm not talking a few minutes. I mean like, 30+ minutes. A friend asked me for a favour tonight and we agreed she would meet at my place for 6pm. It's now 6:30pm and she just called to tell me that she's just leaving her house, which is 30 minutes away.
I HATE IT!

That's rude! A few minutes doesn't bother me either. I've been working really hard on improving my timelines over the last year so my patience for other's lateness has been decreasing.

Yes I hate it, too! It is not so bad if they are late coming to my house but I can't stand when I spend an hour to go into Manhttan and then have to wait an additional 30 min for someone. I am always early or on time.

Yes, it really upset me especially if I don't know the person but they're a friend of a friend and asked me for a favor. This just happened to me last week.

I don't forgive lateness in myself (and therein am never late) so I'm certainly not going to forgive it in others. Sorry you're waiting on your friend @Rubies.

I hate it too....it is really inconsiderate. For my friends/family that are frequently late, I just agree to set a time--example, I want to meet at 6:30, so I tell them to be there at 6...that way it's not 7 by the time they get here. In the long run...I think it's saved me a lot of friendships. I love the quote-if you're early, you're on time, if you're on time you're late, and if you're late...don't even bother showing up!

I hate it. I have a friend that is constantly late. If you were picking her up, she'd often start getting ready when you got to her house! One time we were supposed to meet to go golfing, and I left after 15 min. She showed up around 30 min late and I was gone! Haha. Now she phones if she's going to be even 5 min late. Whoohoo!

A few minutes doesn't bother me, but if I'm going to be more than 5 minutes later I call and let whoever is waiting for me know, and I appreciate the same consideration. I would be super annoyed if someone was already half an hour late before they called (unless it was something weird, like they were stuck on a broken subway and didn't have phone service--that's definitely happened to me on my way to work before).

I was super punctual, but now that I have a child, I can't be counted on to be anywhere at a specific time. It's always plus/minus one hour lately. But I do speak to the person in the morning to give an estimated time and always text with progress.

I can not stand it. Particularly when the person has no real reason to be. I have one friend who does this to me a lot. Luckily, most of our other friends are pretty punctual.

I usually can ignore up to 15 mins, depending on the situation. I'm not always the most punctual person, but I'm really trying to work on it! My ILs were 2 hours late for our wedding, I'm still getting over that one!

@Clementine: HAHA, I'm sort of the opposite-ish. Like, even when I was preggo and now with our baby, I STILL make a huge effort to be on time, if not early. So when OTHER people (ESPECIALLY people without kids) are late for me, I get so fuming mad. But yeah, I mean, I'm more understanding towards other moms and their LOs if they're late.

I don't mind if someone is late because of a situation that was beyond their control but if I know they were just being lazy and not prioritizing or caring about being on time in the first place then it does upset me. I always feel so bad when I'm late, so I'm good about forgiving someone if I think they feel the same way I would have.

I think it depends on the situation. One of my bridesmaids insisted on picking me up for my bachelorette party even though she lived 40 minutes away from me and then we had to drive 35 minutes to the city we were going to. The whole night was supposed to be a surprise but we ended up being like 45 minutes late for massages the girls had scheduled so we didn't get to have them. I felt so bad because one of my other bridesmaids who is very shy and quiet was already there and getting hounded by the salon about where we were and she didn't want to get her massage without us. I also felt terrible for the salon because that was 3 massages that got bailed on because the one girl couldn't get her act together or just let me drive myself once she realized she was running late. I was pretty ticked about that one.

I have no patience for lateness. Unless there is something completely out of your control (a major accident that closes down the highway) there is just no excuse for it. My husband is constantly running late and it is probably the biggest issue in our marriage. I just think it's so disrespectful. When I am on time and you are late, you are basically saying you believe your time is more valuable than mine.

This is my biggest pet peeve!!! My younger sister is never on time, I hate that when she tells me she will be at my house at 9, I know I can get in theshower at 9 and still be ready before she arrives. I think it's rude and disrespectful, like your time isn't as important as theirs. If you know you need to be somewhere at a certain time make sure you allow yourself as much time as you need to get ready to be there on time, it's not hard!

i hate it too. I have a friend that habitually is late so I started telling her we were leaving earlier then we really were. RIDICULOUS!!!!

I try to live by the rule of "if you arrive early, you are on time and if you arrive on time, you are late". I have a difficult time tolerating lateness (more than 10 minutes) in others without extenuating circumstances. One of my sisters in law is perpetually late to the extent that we always tell her a start time of 30 minutes before everyone else is told so we have a chance of her being "on time".

@MamaMoose: I also think that it says that their time is more important than mine. I remember seeing a Dr Phil once though that explained that late people don't actually see it that way. They actually believe that they can get out of the house in 5 min, for example. It's so weird.

I can't STAND it!!! I debated calling the hair salon last week while I was driving to an appointment to say I *might* be 5 minutes late, but I actually made it on time. I am VERY prompt & can't stand being late. I do like being the first person to get places, but don't like waiting more than 5 minutes
