I like my SIL well enough and we chat sometimes over Facebook, but we're not really close. She and I have very little in common.

But my husband gets along VERY well with his BIL (my brother). They have a TON in common and enjoy hanging out. They rarely hang out without me, but that's just because all three of us enjoy all the the same things.

@artbee: Yes! I love that my husband and brother get along so well! My husband has actually said that of all his family and my family combined, he gets along best with my brother! My brother and husband are also computer geeks and gaming geeks, so I think that's a lot of it. I think it's easier for geeks to get along with each other than it is for other types of people, haha.

@artbee: they have a 7 year age gap so didn't grow up side by side and there was a divorce. So it's not like there is any tension but I guess we all don't gel all that well together. My SIL does make things a bit difficult, though.

I only have one BIL and we get along well-- he and the hubs have the same group of friends, so I've been friendly with him since the beginning.

My SIL is one of my best friends. We immediately clicked when I started dating her brother, and have been close ever since. I was even MOH at her wedding last year. I'm practically family with her IL's, as well.

My BIL is younger (20 compared to my 28) so we've all just recently been hanging out with him more. I've been with my husband for 10 years, so he was in 5th grade when we first met. He has no option but to love me.

I love my SILs, we get along great! And hopefully my sister will get married soon, she's dating an awesome guy, so I'll love my new BIL too!

I don't have any DH is an only child. His parents love me and treat me as their own though, so I've always felt like if he did have any siblings, they wouldn't like me.

I love my BIL & he is close in age to us, so when he visits we love to all hang out together. My BIL & DH are very close, & I am a lot like my BIL, so our type of personality works for my DH I don't talk to him much unless he is hear, occasionally via text but it is usually only about LO or pictures of her!

I get along fairly well with my SILs, they are a lot older than me though, first because of the age gap between hubby and myself but also because he's the youngest in his family. But, besides that, they're amazing people and I do enjoy hanging out with them

Yeah, at the moment, I get along with all of my in laws.

My FBIL (in 1 month) is great! He is my age and we get along. He treats me like an older sister, so we often have chats without FI around about his future and whatnot. He's currently bouncing ideas around about going back to school and feels most comfortable talking to me about it. I feel honored. I dk why, because both FI and myself went to college. I guess since I'm not his immediate family.

FI gets along with my siblings really well too. My brothers LOVE him and my sister wants to marry someone "just like him" when she grows up (she's much younger.) He thinks they're all great.

I'm lucky I guess. We all just get along. We'll have game nights with FBIL and FSIL and my brothers and it's great.

i get along with my SIL (bro's wife).... but she is 4 years younger and has a kid already, so we don't really "hang" out.

my BIL (hubby's bro).... well, we're not remotely close.... but that's just his personality.

@artbee: I'm friendly to everyone, but I am not friends with them. Partically because of the age difference, and the fact that my SIL thinks she can say anything to me when she is mad.

DH's older half-sisters have been wonderful to me but as they are 30+ years older it's more of a MIL type relationship. His one full sister lives in Australia so we don't see her too much, but I do really like her.
And my sister's husband is great!

@artbee: She has a problem with the way she talks to people when she is angry. She also talked about my family too. She does it to everyone so I don't take it personal anymore, but if she were a stranger I wouldn't speak to her again. She made me so mad the last time that I wanted to fight her and I'm not a violent person.

We're pretty close. We go to the same church as my husband's sister and her husband so we see each other every week. His sister and I were both bridesmaids for each other and talk pretty regularly. It was always kind of surface stuff until I got pregnant and she started struggling with fertility. She recently told me how much she appreciates my support and how she feels like I'm the person she can turn to most for support besides her husband. It made me feel really good.

My husband and his BIL get along great too. They'll go out to dinner or movies or shooting together and frequently talk.

On my side of the family we all get along great and my BIL is hilarious but we rarely talk outside of when we're together in person.

We're both really happy with the people our siblings married.
