I am friends with one of our neighbors. They are actually a retired couple (young though) and are beyond amazing.

They come swimming, we have dinners together... etc.
They are like our second parents and are beyond sweet. They offer to take care of Mavrick if I can't find anyone, and he actually helped with our house renos. They are our angels from above!

Yup. Only a few but we are quite close with the people on either side of us. Actually... very early in my pregnancy I had a scare with some cramping and spotting and I was home alone so I ran next door to freak out and cry and have someone with me while I called the doctor. Being so far away from our families it's really nice to have a good support system so close.

I know my neighbor to the right and directly in front of us. The neighbor to the front, we've dog sat for each other before and borrowed things as need. We also conversate now and then, but no dinners or get togethers.

Neighbor to the right, we know her name and exchange light conversations, but that's about it. She also did tell us our gas was leaking one day!

Hubby and I are the youngest in the neighborhood, and it's nice to know some of our neighbors and we keep an eye out for each other even though we're not particulary close! They even called me one time to report a mysterious truck parked in front of our house, and offered to call the cops for us!

We aren't really friends with any of them but we know our side neighbors. It seems like people only open up to you once you have kids so hopefully we will get to meet a few other people soon when our LO is here. I don't mind not being BFF's with my neighbors because, what if you had a falling out with them? You still have to live there!

There are some busy bodies and b*tches in our neighborhood that I have run into and try to avoid, though. Aren't there always?

No, and we don’t want to be friends with our neighbors. I don’t like people all up in my bizz LOL We are friendly with our downstairs neighbors (condo) – they are a very sweet couple, but we don’t do get togethers or anything. The house across the street has a young couple who are also nice and we will talk to them if we both have our cats outside at the same time, but we never do anything with them. On one side the neighbors wave and seem nice. On the other, the neighbors suck. They are a revolving group of hipsters who don’t work and who party a lot in summer. They lit their house on fire a few summers ago via discarded cigarettes – we woke up to the flames and smoke and called 911, and I ran over and banged on their door to wake them up. They never thanked us or anything. There is one woman down the street with a daycare who annoys the hell out of me, as do her customers who seem to think they can park anywhere they like on our block (like, the middle of the street (!!) or blocking our driveway). We don’t know any other neighbors on our block.

We don't and it makes me sad. My parents are good friends with lots of their neighbors. I'm hoping when LO gets older and starts playing with neighborhood kids, we'll become friends with their parents. One mom stopped us on a walk and said that they wanted to try to get young families in the neighborhood together and we gave her DH's email, but she never emailed us

Most of our neighbors SUCK! The people behind us are super rude and the only time they have talked to us (well my FIL) was when my FIL was building us a small shed in the backyard, the neighbor came out to tell him not to lean the wood on his chain link fence.... seriously? They never pick up their dog poop and their backyard looks like crap and we never get to go in the backyard because it smells horrible

The neighbor on the left side of us is friendly, we wave and say hi but don't talk much. The bitchy lady to my left won't even acknowledge me (we walked to the mailbox at the same time one day and she didn't even look at me!). Then the neighbor across will wave and say hi but he one of those people that he talks to the ENTIRE neighborhood lol. We are also a younger couple compared to the others. It doesn't bother me at all that we don't hangout with any of them though!

I would love to be friends with out neighbors, but I don't think they feel the same way. Oh well, we'll probably move in the next few years so hopefully we'll have better luck in the next neighborhood.

No, not at all. They are mostly older ladies and are very grumpy.

We know all our neighbors. Our best friends live across the street. Our next door neighbors on both sides frequently have us over and vice versa. Our neighborhood basically rocks! 3 stay at home dads, one stay at home mom, another doctor pair. Tons of kids and one crazy older guy who yells at the TV all day. Guess you can't win them all, but our block pretty much rocks!

Yes! Our dog plays together with our neighbors dog all day, every day and we help each other out if one's going to be gone awhile and needs us to do something with the dog. She gave us her granddaughter's old high chair to use with our baby and has given us several gifts already for the baby. The people we bought our house from also live down the street about 3 doors so we talk to them pretty frequently and we get together quite a bit with a young couple that lives 2 doors down the other direction. We've gone out to dinner twice, had basketball parties, etc. It's nice that we can call each other up and get together for an hour in our sweats and nobody has to drive anywhere, we just walk down.

I did call the cops on some other neighbors yesterday though because they have 2 dogs that are never on a leash and always running into other people's yards and just in general being annoying. Yesterday a group of brothers was walking their dog and the 2 dogs attacked the dog on a leash. It was ugly and there was a group of 9 or 10 kids standing around. I ran out and got the kids away from the dogs because they were trying to break up the fight. It was dangerous and made me mad so I called them in. I don't think we'll be socializing with them any time soon.
