Here in Maine we're looking at 18 inches or so? I thought the snow was done for the season because I never ever learn.

I'm in PA and they are calling for 18-24 inches
I'm excited - we have had barely any snow this winter!

Apparently. I'm in Toronto and they're calling for 25cm overnight.
ETA: not sure if it's the same storm! lol

I'm in NY (suburbs just outside the city) and we are expected to get 18 - 24 inches. My office is already closed for tomorrow.

Yes, we are supposed to get 12 to 18 inches. I'm praying we don't lose power!!

Yes! I'm hoping my office closes but either way I probably won't come in if it's bad in the morning.

Yes, and I'm so excited. This Maine girl in PA was missing the snow this year. My DS is SOOOO excited to play in it.
nectarine / 2771 posts
Yep. 12-18, with a possibility of 24+! I don't love it, but at least it's march and will melt faster than it would in January! Happy to stay home tomorrow at least (office already closed)

Yes, and I am pretty annoyed about it. Daycare already had a planned day off this week for professional development so if the storm ends up as bad as they are predicting, my kids may only get 2 days of care this week. My maternity leave ended last week so this is not a great start to getting back to work.

Yep. I am hoping we don't lose power because both my husband and I will have to work. Our back up generator isn't wired to run our computers, lol.

Yep - looks like about 18 inches. And I have to work and don't have covered parking there so I'll be shoveling out after and then driving home an hour (or 2 or 3 depending on the conditions)
Sorry. My pregnant butt is super cranky.

We're at a few inches in a suburb of Chicago. A lot of it is lake effect snow.

Tri-state area (<20 miles outside NYC) and seeing conflicting reports....we could get slammed up to 2 ft, we could get under a foot....but regardless I think the trouble will be the winds!

@looch: Does it only run major appliances/lights/heat? Curious b/c we recently moved into a home with a GIANT industrial gas generator....but haven't yet tested it out. So I'm not sure what we will have functional if we need to rely on it. I was assuming it would power our outlets, but now I wonder if I'm wrong!!!! I hope not! I think there's a decent chance we will lose power, unfortunately

Eek...did you put away winter gear already and have to haul it out again? We are going skiing next month and I was hoping for some used gear sales, late season but guess that won't happen now.
This weather is crazy!

@PinkElephant: It only runs a few items, like the stove, fridge and a few lights. I think it will also run a few outlets, but they're in the kitchen. Not sure how useful it's going to be, but our electrician made the recs on what to put on it and we went with it.

Yep 12-18! Everything is already closed tomorrow. So far my work even said delay opening on Wed, I guess it depends how soon/late the snow ends on Tue.

I'm jealous. I've seen like 1/2 an inch of snow this year and it was gone in a few hours.

We're supposed to get 12-18 inches at least, and I'm sad about it. I don't mind the snowstorm itself, exactly, but all that snow will linger for a while and it feels like we JUST got rid of what we'd had before. We were starting to play outside again!

@looch: Thanks! DH seems to think our powers the whole house....according to our neighbors, this place was blazing with light/heat during Sandy when everyone else was w/o power for ages. Hopefully we won't have to find out!!!!

Looks like it. I live in South Jersey close to Philly so at home we may get less than the city. It's annoying!

Snow!! I am excited!! I'm hoping we don't lose power, but we do have a generator.

Yes, we were supposed to get 6-10 inches of snow, but we are currently getting a lot of sleet. I hope it changes back over to snow.

It's started here in Maine! Is it sadthat I'm already counting down to bedtime???
kiwi / 556 posts
Yes. We are getting 8-12 inches. Not as bad as some but still time off work (I teach) and being cooped up in our 1000 sf home all day.
pomelo / 5791 posts
They called for 8-12" here in NJ. It was supposed to start last night around 8pm. Woke up this morning to......icy rain. There's less than 1/2" lol
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@ValentineMommy: Same here.. I'm on Long Island and my area turned mostly into sleet. But it's so windy outside I"m glad they closed everything anyway! I just hope this ice is shovel-able....

I'm in Ctnral PA, and they are calling for 18-24". When I left for work at 8am, we already had at least a foot, and it was still coming down pretty heavily. My husband spent 2 hours shoveling our driveway and sidewalk this morning and by the time he was done, you could barely tell he'd been out there. The drive in was pretty treacherous - roads had been cleared maybe once, but probably had 4-5" of new snow on them, and the visibility was AWFUL. I'm hoping the drive home is a little bit better...
