I get one every year free though work, so I will once again get this. As for my DD when she arrives, if the pediatrician recommends it I will have them give it to her too, I"m not sure the age limit on this I should do some research!

I don't know. I thought i'd get one for myself but not LO (because I don't like vaccines in general on LOs).
But then my OB told me that even if I did get sick, I might not pass it on to LO because i'd be nursing so he would have all my antibodies and my germs wouldn't bother him and if they did, they may not be the full blown FLU symptoms.
OK so that solves me as the problem....but it doesn't solve all those people at the mall and all the elderly people who will come up and look at him in his stroller.
So, I figure I just won't leave the house much this flu season? I meant he is born at the beginning of it and will be 12w in Jan when its pretty much over here (Michigan).

@TurtleDoves: Our Pedi won't even do flu shots until LO is 6 months old.

I'm pretty anti vaccines but with DS in school this year during flu season he will get his first ever flu shot at 4 years old.

nope. Ive never had one and Im not giving Liv one either. She has a nanny so isnt around tons of children consistently so her risk is low. Im hesitant on the flu shot. Alwyas have been. I didnt have one while I was pregnant either, my OB said it wasnt necessary.

@Coco Bee: you're kidding! I should consider this for DH. I don't get sick often at all *knock on wood* but my husband is sick at least twice a year.

@Mrs.B: no way? I haven't ask my ped about it yet but my OB said to ask for it at his *first* visit if I wanted it. ..and I thought, jeez that's early to be injecting him.

I never have and don't plan on it. No plans to get it for baby either.

I plan to get one for the first time this year. Going to ask the pediatrician at LO's 4 month appointment about whether or not she should get one. My husband usually gets the shot every year.

I've never gotten one before (and I've never gotten the flu) but now that I'm pregnant I'm going to bite the bullet and get one.

Walgreens will get you the mercury free shot if you call ahead.

Yup I got it at my 34 wk appt. It was my first time getting it. DH will be getting it too for the first time. My OB strongly recommended it for both of us, especially since LO will be born during cold/flu season.

Not if I can help it. I always get so much sicker from the shot than anything I get at winter, but I am pregnant this year so the doc. might be pushing it. I really don't want LO to get it either, for that reason and because he has an egg allergy. The only concern I have is if we fly in Nov/Dec...we always seem to catch something on the planes.

I got it! I'm pregnant and so it's a good idea. Especially since I'm due in flu season - don't want to have it during delivery, you know?

I've only gotten it twice before - once when I worked at a daycare and last year finishing my masters'. If you've ever had the *real* flu (not just a bad cold) you can see why people want to avoid it!

Yes, I'm getting mine in November. I've never gotten it before but I know my immune system is crappier when pregnant. My OB told me to get it there because some places like Walgreens won't give it to you if you're pregnant because of liability.

Yup, I've gotten a flu shot every year since high school. It was hard to convince DH to get the shot, but I finally managed to get him to get it last year b/c I was pregnant. This year, I'm definitely making sure all three of us get the shot.

I think we will get one. Hubs always got one.

Yes absolutely, especially with M in daycare. I plan to ask his pediatrician for a shot for me too when we're there next week.

Oh shoot! It's that time. LO is too little but I really should.

I only get it some seasons--though the flu knocks me out cold for at least a few days and has repercussions for a few weeks, I don't always get it. I hate needles. I can hold LO (and patients!) for his shots but I pass out when I get them myself. I will do it for LO since he'll get some immunity from my milk (I hope).

I've never gotten one, mostly because I'm pretty lazy about getting them. I'm undecided at this point..... maybe I should talk to DH about it

@MamaMoose: There is another medication, but you may be allergic to that one too.

I think the new recommendations are that everyone get a flu shot. Last year was the 1st year that I got one b/c I was pregnant. This year I really can't afford to get sick at my new job, so I'll probably go ahead and get one again (and for DD too). However, the flu shot does make me a little nervous b/c DH's cousin got Gullain-Barre syndrome last year. (A very rare but extremely serious and scary complication from a flu shot.)
