I try to keep them all closed as much as possible... it's a lifelong battle.
Are you good about keeping your kitchen cabinets closed?

Yep. When they're open I always think about that 6th sense movie

Yes, except my cat is always opening them! And the drawers. We come home and half of them are open. He's busy when we're away.

Yes, I hate it when they're open, but my husband has a sometimes habit of taking a glass or something out and forgetting to close the door - drives me crazy!

Yes! If I leave the bottom ones open my cat goes in them.
watermelon / 14206 posts
yes...it's just nature to me. It's weird to me when people don't close them.

Haha DH would say I'm bad at this especially with the bathroom ones. He gets so annoyed.

I'm home alone right now, and looking at my kitchen, there are currently 3 cupboards open... so I'm going to say no, I'm not good about it. My husband gets mad about it though. Apparently things like open cupboards are a problem when you're not 5'2".

Yes. Today I tried to leave one open because I knew I'd use it in five minutes, but I had to close it.

@chopsuey119: AH! Me too!!! If I walk down and one is open I think "WHO DID THAT?!?!" On a side note, the other kitchen cabinet thing that freaks me out from a movie is that old Julia Roberts movie, when her husband straightens all of the cans after he's found her...? EEK! Creep town!

I'm obsessive about keeping the cabinets and drawers closed. I had never encountered anyone who left them open until I met my husband. He constantly leaves them open. My MIL is the same way so I know where it comes from. Husband will leave all the cabinet doors open from time to time just to get a rise out of me. Works every time.

@babyjmama: That Julia Robert movie is FREAKY!!!!
And yes I always keep them closed. So does DH. It would drive me crazy if they were left open.

Horrible! Dresser drawers, closet door, bathroom cabinet (I'm actually okay with) but the linen cabinet in the hall & kitchen cabinets I'm always leaving open! It's really bad b/c our house has shifted so some of the cabinets stay cracked anyways!... DH hates it & is always going behind me & closing them. lol

Yes, always! When SO and I moved in together, he was terrible at closing closet/cabinet doors and it drove me crazy! Luckily, he has learned to be better about it after 5 years of living together

Yes, it drives me crazy when they're open! Same with our dresser too...

@FutureMrsMcK: Ditto! I can't figure out how he thinks it is that hard or uses that much energy to close them!
clementine / 896 posts
No. I don't even know how or why I leave them open but I do it a lot more than I realized (and before I think I always blamed my poor SO). I'll go back in the kitchen later to find the cabinets open. Oops. Can I blame my kids? They get me sidetracked. Haha.

Ours are always closed. DH will sometimes leave one open, but we're both pretty good about it.
Im not sure how people manage to just leave them open?
grapefruit / 4187 posts
This type of thing drives my DH absolutely insane since he is ADHD and needs everything to be in order all the time, so yes - our cabinets remain closed lol! Even if I'm in the kitchen emptying the dishwasher sometimes he'll come in and close the cabinets while I still need to get in there - or he'll just take over emptying since he can't stand disorder.

YES. It drives me crazy when things are left open. Even if it is slightly ajar. My cleaner does this ALL the time. WHHHHHY??
