Right now, I SAH because we moved cross country for the year. I'm not sure if I will SAH when we move home, though I think I'm getting into it.
You?

I work FT at home and I only go in for meetings and interviews. I love it but I miss adult interaction.

I'm torn about my working situation.
On one hand I worry that I'm getting too comfortable where I am and I know for a fact I'm well underpaid for what I do, as well as too much travel making it hard to have work/life balance.
On another hand if I start looking for something new I'm worried the grass isn't always greener and that I won't make the same or better money. My biggest concern is commute - money is negotiable.
DH wants me to wait before looking for a new job because HIS intention is to get me KU, send me back to work and get KU again. lol. These are his dreams.

Been SAH for over 2.5 years and I love it!
No plans to go back to work anytime soon.

I'm happy being a sahm, but I do see myself heading back to work when our kids get a little older.

I've been a SAHM for the past year and plan on continuing to be one for at least a few more years! I love it! There are days where I wish I could go to work to get a break or to just do something...else. But the flexibility and time at home with my LO is totally worth it to me.

I am having a tough time figuring this out. I think ideally would like to work part time, but that is hard to do in my field.... I just went back to work last week and being a full time WOHM is tough stuff....

I'm really torn. I would really love to SAH (I think), but then I make pretty good money and that financial security is hard to give up. I don't really love my job. I've been feeling that my career choice just isn't for me. I'm thinking about possibly staying home after we have the next LO and then go back to work in a couple years but in a new field. I'm so torn over it!

I work full time at home. I'm happy working at home but I don't like my actual job. I'd also be okay working in an office full or part time, as long as the job was still somewhat flexible. I don't think I'd like being a SAHM.

@Running Elley: I see all your crafting and activities and think how I'm such a lame sahm!

Extremely happy being a SAHM - I live an amazing life. Also excited to start volunteering and eventually transition into working part time, over the next few years.

Yes/No. I am glad to be working, but I'm not "in love" with my job because it is very repetitive and I'm on the phone pretty much all day.
I am also a student - I wish I could focus on being a FT student but we couldn't afford that.

Love my job... Though the last six months have been oppressive!

I'm a part time WOHM and it works out really well for us. I get two 12 hour days of intense adult interaction (I'm a critical care RN) and the rest I'm home with M.

I'm taking up to a year off. I'm happy to be home with DD, but I love my career and can't wait to get back.

I'm currently on maternity leave for a year, so I guess I'm a SAHM?? But I'm still getting paid from my job, so I don't know if that fully qualifies as a SAHM?
I'm glad I don't have to go to work because LO doesn't even get close to sleeping through the night, and I can't imagine putting her in daycare, but definitely miss adult conversation and using my brain differently.

I really don't like my job right now, so I'm not planning to go back after LO arrives. But long term, I'd like to find a job that I do like and go back to work.

I SAH and am happy. I wish Dh worked a little less, but it's getting better

I am very unhappy. I finished graduate school in May and have been looking for a job ever since. I've had a bunch of interviews, but always get the phone call where they tell me I was their second choice. Gee, thanks? Is that supposed to make me feel better? So I'm feeling pretty frustrated at the moment.

I like my job and what I get to do. I've been with my boss almost as long as I've been with husband. I don't like our new coworker. She rubbed me the wrong way with work from home stuff basically saying to my boss and I that her family is more important than ours. She really rocked the easygoing nature of my boss and I by being high needs.

@mrskc: i think my feelings mirror yours right now. I am making good money, but i am sooo bored at work. I also have great flexibility in my job that i dont know i can get anywhere else.

Not super happy. Could do with working part time but we can't afford that to happen.

I'm ok with SAH because that's where I am right now and there's no sense complaining about it. But I look forward to the day when I have a full schedule of births to attend (I'm a doula and birth photographer). My goal is to do the work at home and make enough money on my own to pay someone else to clean my house so when I'm home I can be introverting or hanging out with my kiddos or helping hubby farm, instead of stressing about housework, which is totally not my cup of tea.

I am happy working, though I do miss LO terribly throughout the day. I have a pretty flexible schedule and work from home 2 days a week, so I'm not traveling my very awful commute every day and get to see him more!

I am SAH and I it. There are some moments when I kinda miss my old life, but it usually passes in a second
I'll probably go back to work when LO goes to school.

Im currently on maternity leave and Im pretty happy, yeah. I wish I didn't have to go back full time when she is six months though. I'd like the year off and then to go back part time. Oh well...

I am satisfied with how things are now, working full time on a contract basis.

I'm in school and I SAH with LO. So although I'm not working, I am doing something outside the home. It has been great because I get adult interaction but also get to spend lots of time with LO when she's tiny. Ideally I would like to work part time when I finish school.
pomegranate / 3759 posts
Right now my situation is complicated. I work casually out of the home, do some at-home self employed stuff and mostly stay at home looking after LO. When I have to actually go to work, it sucks but once i'm at work, i'm happy. After 3-4 days at home looking after LO i'm so tired and ready for a break. It could be because I have to manage this while pregnant.

If there were 50 hours in a day and I had unlimited energy, I would love to have a p/t job. But I can't be the kind of mom I want to be, esp w/a new baby coming, and be the kind of employee I want to be. So I can't say I'm 100% happy but I can't imagine being happier.

I like working over being a SAHM. I'm grateful I got to stay home a year paid, but I enjoy working more. I currently work a bit more than full time - I work 6 days a week, although I'm currently in the middle of an 18-shifts-in-row-stretch (worked shift 10 today! only 8 more to go!), but that says more about the shitty job I have than if I enjoy it or not.

I am a SAHM for now. I've been home for almost 3 yrs. I am really ready to go back to work though. I've missed it so much. I will really miss the kids, but am hoping to find a nanny so that I don't disrupt their schedule too much. Daycare is super expensive around here and a nanny is pretty much the same price (between 20 and 30 dollars more per day) as daycare.
