ugh at work now and I have 25 minutes left! I have read the serial killer hypothesis before from reddit and never put much stock into it, but I haven't got there yet. As of halfway through the podcast I still lean guilty for Adnan...

I haven't read through this thread, because I don't want to spoil it for myself! I'm on episode 5, and totally sucked in.
Thought y'all might enjoy this (I wanted to just post the video, but I have no idea how to do that):

For the love of god I wish they would edit out the girl who can't pronounce mail chimp.
Other than that, really enjoying!

Here's something new Serial fanatics: https://firstlook.org/theintercept/2014/12/29/exclusive-interview-jay-wilds-star-witness-adnan-syed-serial-case-pt-1/ On Twitter, Jay was speaking ill of Sarah Koenig despite her tracking him down and not telling much about the crime to her plus her handling him with kid gloves on the podcast to respect his rights.

@lawbee11: Yep. I really don't believe him or don't know what to make of the interview. I would love to hear Sarah Koenig weigh in on it. What's interesting is that he said Adnan planned it after being mad that Hae was cheating on him, yet, Adnan plays it off differently in the Koenig interviews. Ugh, I'm hoping that when DNA evidence comes to light that it makes some sense of this all.

@cascademom: Interesting! His level of detail is pretty compelling at points, but then again who knows! I am the same as you - I want to see what the tested materials/fibers reveal (if anything).

@fussygal: It's detailed, but he's been sticking to this story for 15 years. With renewed interest in the case, he's trying to keep his story extremely straight and clear despite being a known liar. In this reporter's second part, will she ask him if he was cheating on his girlfriend and Hae knew? He's still very much Adnan did it, I'm just the guy that helped.

@cascademom: I read that interview this morning. I agree, Jay has had time (15 years!) to finally get his story straight and stick to it. While I really don't think Jay is as innocent as he claims to be, I am very interested to read the rest of the interview!

@lamariniere: @cascademom: @fussygal: @lawbee11: is it just me or do his details still not line up? I didn't think laura or jenn were at Cathy's and how could they have been headed there between 3-4 if adnan had track practice and Asia saw him in the library?
pineapple / 12566 posts
@jetsa: I think you are right. The visit to Cathy's was definitely after track practice. Something is definitely fishy with Jay.

@jetsa: Things definitely don't line up. This story is so different from what we've heard before. I just can't trust him given how many times he's changed his story.

@lawbee11: gah, this part of the interview is as frustrating as the last. I hate how he characterizes Koenig. She's a reporter doing her job and investigating. Once again, I don't trust Jay and what he says.
pomegranate / 3580 posts
@lamariniere: His timeline sounds way off! I thought they were at Cathy's pretty late based on the podcast. He's just so shady! He helped bury a BODY and his stories never line up. His moral compass is obviously off so I'm not sure why he thinks we should believe anything he says
ETA; Whoops! Meant to tag @Jetsa, too!

@lawbee11: Woah! I just skimmed that, but interesting!
I hated Jay's recent interview. I couldn't believe a lot of it. He's known to be a liar, he's the only one who's admitted to knowing anything and everything about the murder. He may not have actually done it, but he sure was a party to it.

@lawbee11: Both the prosecution and defense in this case were awful. Urick sounds like such a piece of work.

@LovelyPlum: @cascademom: @lamariniere: @BananaPancakes: SK wrote about it on the Serial website. I miss her voice!

@lawbee11: That's a nice explanation. A replay of one of Sarah's first segments was on This American Life a couple of weeks ago. It was from 10-15 years ago. She sounded so different.

@lawbee11: SUPER EXCITED ABOUT THIS. I hope it is not a disappointment (innocent or otherwise). haha. I want some drama.

Has anyone been following the viewfromll2 blog? The woman who runs it is doing amazing analysis of all the legal docs. The latest post was a fascinating read, and really compelling (it's pretty long though!).

@lawbee11: Susan Simpson's blog has been such a fascinating read ever since Serial ended, so this is very exciting!

Did anyone else catch catch the new podcast this week? I just finished it and found some of the new info interesting, particularly the coach's recollection of the day Hae went missing.

A friend introduced us to it when we visited them just before Easter. We then listened to it on our 5 hour drive home and got through to about episode 6. I was surprised by how interesting it was to listen to. I haven't listened since we got home, but have been wondering what else happened. I caught my hubby listening to it on the couch a few days after we got back from our trip!

@BananaPancakes: Where do you find the new podcast? My Serial Podcast isn't showing anything new in the feed. Or is it under a new name?
coconut / 8861 posts
@T.H.O.U.: It's called Undisclosed: http://undisclosed-podcast.com/ It's by Rabia and Susan Simpson. It has no affiliation with This American Life, Serial, or WBEZ.

I'm so late to the Serial game. I heard they were covering Bowe Bergdahl in season 2, which sounded really interesting, so I tuned in. Then I started hearing a lot of buzz that season 2 wasn't as good as season 1, so I ended up going back and binge listening to season 1.
I'm so confused as to why Adnan would loan his car and his cell phone to someone he describes as an acquaintance. There are very few people I would loan my car to, especially when I was in high school. The thing about buying a birthday present isn't a good enough reason, in my opinion. But, I don't feel like they really discuss that much, except in Dana's (I think it was Dana!) bit during the finale about how Adnan would've just had to have been so incredibly unlucky.
I was also kind of unclear on the relationship between Jenn Pusateri and Jay? Stephanie is his girlfriend who he's supposedly crazy in love with, so where does Jenn factor in? And I feel like they never really delve into the relationship between Hae and all these people either. Could anyone else have had a motive to kill Hae?
I think there are definitely things that look bad for Adnan, but it feels like the investigators got their hands on Adnan, decided he had a crappy alibi and a plausible motive and called it a day.
