I was also kind of disappointed with today's episode. I was hoping she would address juicer rumors or possible alternative scenarios for the crime. I have no idea how SK is going to wrap everything up next week! Can't wait!

@mrbee: I thought that the letter coupled with the explanation of influencing witnesses, etc. made a lot more sense of how he behaves with Sara on the phone.

@lawbee11: Agreed! It was interesting, especially the letter, but the rest of the episode wasn't all that exciting.
I can't wait for next week's! I have no idea how she's going to wrap this up.

@cascademom: Yah, he seemed "off" to me in his talks with Sarah - and also in that old episode where he said that she didn't know him. The letter answered a lot of questions for me on both of those fronts!
Agree re: how everything he says could affect his court case, and his upcoming court hearing.

Agree with everyone else who thought today was "meh" ... Maybe this is why it's wrapping. Everything has been presented, and today was a bit of clarification.
If he were to have another trial or hearing for parole, do you think the information in the podcast would be considered?? I mean, out of the millions of people in prison that we don't hear about, there's this ONE guy with a 12 weeks series about his case.

@Shutterbug: Ha, cracked me up!
Another good one, this one from the New Yorker.

@Shutterbug: @mrbee: Love these! Did you hear about the Best Buy tweet?
Apparently they got in trouble for being insensitive, but I thought it was funny!

@twodoghouse: I think that's hilarious.
ETA: think of all the free publicity they're getting!

@twodoghouse: The top Yelp review for the Best Buy was pretty good too!
"Parking lot is secluded enough, but I couldn't find the pay phone."
http://www.yelp.com/biz/best-buy-windsor-mill
It used to be the #1 review, but then Yelp moved it under a link that says, "1 other review that is not currently recommended". Guess they didn't think it was funny...

@twodoghouse: I saw that and thought it was hilarious!
What do y'all think the rumor was that SK didn't reveal because she said it was unsubstantiated??
pomegranate / 3580 posts
@lawbee11: Not sure but I read in an article (or maybe this thread?) a few weeks ago, during the two week break, where she said she had just discovered something "really big" that was "keeping her up at night". I wonder if that was it!

@lawbee11: I don't know but I was kind of annoyed she didn't tell us. She built it up so much and now I want to know!

Are y'all excited for the last episode tomorrow? I found some fun theories to hold us over. I especially love the last one.

Has anyone listened to the Serial parodies? They are quite hilarious and might hold you over until tomorrow!

I'm excited about tomorrow's episode, but sad it's the last one!

@mrs.gm: hilarious!
GAH can't wait for tomorrow. But now that there's a season two, why do I have the feeling that it's going to be like a season finale on TV or midseason break that keeps us just dyiiiiiing until the next season! Which btw, when is season 2 going to start?
WHODUNIT!!!! I NEED TO KNOW SARAH!!!

I wanted to listen on my way to work but the last episode isn't up yet!

Gah! Just finished listening! Won't say anything yet since it's still early for most of you.

@lamariniere: I thought it tied up various loose ends a lot better than I thought it would!!

I just got done listening as well. Very sad it's over. I think they did a great job ending the season as best they could with the info they had. I really don't see how it could be the serial killer, though. I'm wondering if they're just using him as an excuse to get the DNA tested and hoping it comes back as a match for Jay or Adnan.

Is there a way to post spoilers in white text, so that when the post gets published, you have to highlight to read?
I have a question I am dying to ask.
honeydew / 7230 posts
@lawbee11: Yeah I just don't see how it could be the serial killer if Jay knew where the car was. But I think the Innocent Project is grasping at any straw that could exonerate him. It sure would be interesting to see if Adnan or Jay's DNA comes back, though. To be honest, I think at the end when Adnan was talking about having it tested he sounded a little nervous. But I think he did it, so I tend to look at him a little more critically than most. I thought it was as satisfying of a wrap up as we could expect, but it's disappointing that (short of the DNA testing turning up something definitive) that we'll never really know what happened!
admin / wonderful grape / 20724 posts
@looch: I think it's fine to post spoilers at this point - but if you think it'd be helpful, I could also add a [SPOILERS] to the thread title! Or maybe someone could start a separate thread...

I started listening last week and blew threw all of the episodes so quickly--it is so addictive and interesting! I have to try to find some time today to listen to the last one. Can't wait!

I wish it could've ended with a definitive answer, but even without that, I enjoyed this episode and loved the show as a whole! Can't wait for season two.
honeydew / 7586 posts
@lawbee11: I think that's what she (Deirdre) meant when she said "big picture." The idea of a serial killer is plausible enough to get the DNA tested. I don't think there is any way that the Ronald guy did it though.

Does anyone think Jay could potentially be clever enough to set-up Adnan?
I think Jay REALLY wanted street cred. He strikes me as this somewhat nerdy, goofy kid who really wanted to seem darker than he really is. His friends all testified that he lied a lot to make himself seem cooler. Even when talking to the police, he bragged about his "long rap sheet" and they called him out on not having a criminal record. Then, the bragging to acquaintances about burying the body. That just seems to go against common sense to me unless you were TRYING to make everyone see how dark and criminal you are.
I am wondering if there is anyway that Jay did this simply for the street cred. Maybe this was his way of proving himself to his friends on the street. Knowing the criminal culture of Baltimore, it wouldn't surprise me. Then he used his friends (Jen and Stephanie) to help pin it on Adnan. It doesn't seem like such a series of bad coincidences if it was carefully planned out in the first place.
Thoughts?

@Ra: Really interesting points. Something is so off with Jay.... The point about there being too many bad coincidences for Adnan was pretty compelling to me this morning... but if Jay was involved or pinning it on him, those coincidences make sense.
