My mom always tells us she loves us and hugs us and was always affectionate. My dad is/was another story. He is a typical Korean man - no emotion, no affection. He's NEVER told me he loved me and has never hugged me - the only time he hugged me was when he gave me away on my wedding day and he was forced to! LOL. When the hubs and I announced that I was pregnant, my mom burst into tears and hugged me right away. My dad? He shook my hand. He SHOOK. MY. HAND. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH...Cracks me up.
Are you parents affectionate towards you?
Unlike most Korean dads, my dad was very verbal with his "saranghae"s (ILY in korean) and hugs, kisses, pats on the butt.
Ironically, FIL is more the non-affectionate type. DH hardly ever remebers him saying ILY or hugging/kissing. What I love the most is that my dad embraced DH and hugs/verbalizes his affection and DH LOVES LOVES LOVES IT!
