I'm not particular about separating colors, or our clothes from the girls clothes but when it comes to folding nothing can be folded inside out. Drives me crazy!
Are you particular about the way your laundry is washed, dried, or folded/put away?

I didn't think so but now that you mention it I like things not to be inside out when put away. That's about it!

Yes
darks/lights split
hand washables on a different cycle
cold water only
hang dry everything for me but socks/undies
dryer use for DH's clothes because he doesn't care
no ironing - if it needs to be ironed it goes to the dry cleaner
DH needs his stuff folded like it's in a store - what a pain
Me - I hang everything and don't care if it's inside out or not

Yup, colors separate from whites. And delicate in a separate load. Delicate dried on medium heat!

I grew-up in a family that separated everything. 5+ years into my relationship with my husband (who goes by the mantra: Throw it all together and see what happens), I couldn't care less. Although this has recently resulted in a pair of white underwear turning blue, but whatever. They are clean and that's all that matters.

Oh, yes, I am particular. I do lights, darks, whites, dress shirts, towels/sheets all in separate loads. Certain items never go in the dryer, certain things are line dry and some are dry clean only.

nope, i could care less as long as they are clean. i just throw everything together in the wash, and dry pretty much everything. drives my DH crazy when I shrink stuff. i am lazy when it comes to laundry

Separating? What is separating? I don't care at all! I'm just happy to get all the laundry done!

I'm soooo particular. I've been known to separate by color. I'm a little more casual with my stuff now but I do a load of pinks and reds, whites, darks, blankets, towels, bibs(the Velcro messes up her clothes if I don't separate them out). Hot water ( just covering the bottom)to dissolve the soap then cold water to wash. Rinse then rinse again and once more for baby. Everything dried on low.
I'm obsessed with laundry.

I don't separate and put everything in the dryer unless I know I can't. The only thing is I like to put my lace underwear in a bag so they don't get snagged by other clothes, and nothing stays inside out either! The only things I don't mix towels/sheets with clothes tho.

I'm just particular about what gets put in the dryer. We drop our "dryer" clothes off at the laundromat and have them do it. Then we just do the non-dryer stuff and hang it up at home.

When I first got our new washer and dryer I was particular because it's all fancy and has tons of different settings. Now I'm lazy - I still do basic sorting where the baby stuff, towels, and sheets don't share loads. But t-shirts and jeans and stuff? Meh, throw it all in together.
My mom is insane about laundry, she helped me with ours when I was recovering from my c-section, and watching her do it drove me nuts because she made it take so much longer than necessary! Mega sorting, and she likes to take things out of the dryer just before they're completely dry and have them still a bit damp. Which is annoying because I don't have a line to hang damp stuff on like she does. And instead of just using the damp=dry setting on my dryer, because she's not used to it, she would just do it her way...which requires checking on the clothes every 10 minutes or so to see how dry they are.

I do not let my husband do laundry because I am very particular about what goes in the dryer, what is line dried and how things are folded. He always does it wrong, so I have told him to just stop doing it.

Meh. As long as it gets cleaned. I am particular about how things are folded and I always put my own laundry away...my husband wouldn't even dare try.
honeydew / 7916 posts
Yes...we end up doing a lot of small loads because we each do our own laundry, separate by type, color, etc. And I turn a lot of things inside out to wash and then hang dry. Some things like towels I use vinegar to rinse and then tennis balls in the dryer, and I think we might have at least 3-4 different detergents. and tons of different stain removers.
Wait, why would things get folded/put away inside out?

We separate into whites, pjs/towels/sheets, and "outside" clothes.

Um yes. Probably too particular. Washing & Folding. Both important.
Folding especially, partially because I enjoy doing it. I've been known to refold laundry if not folded properly. Which is why no one usually helps me. I've heard "laundry nazi" a few times... haha

Yes absolutely. DH doesn't dare touch mine or LO's laundry. He does his own though!
pear / 1556 posts
I am particular about mine, DH does not care about his. Most of my clothes need to hang dry with the exception of socks, underwear, pjs, and workout clothes. I am particular about the way things are folded as well. I think that part comes from years of working at a clothing store.
persimmon / 1128 posts
Probably too particular. Sheets, towels and clothes are all washed separately, and everyone's clothes is washed separately too {DH, mine, DS, etc.}. My clothes is split into colors: reds, dark colors, and lighter colors. I wash my oldest's clothes by sorting it into tops and bottoms {shirts/sweatshirts vs. pants/shorts/undies/socks) because I find it's easier for me to fold and put away stacks of the same thing. Water temperature can vary, but I always dry on low. Everything has to be folded/hung as soon as the dryer is done. I can't imagine folding clothes knowing that it's inside out. {See...too particular.}

Yes! It's not even all that organized, but I have MY way of doing it and I hate when people try to help. Same with my dishes.

I separate colors/whites/towels/bedsheets... and I don't like anything folded inside out! Kids clothes and our clothes are washed separately too.
honeydew / 7916 posts
I am genuinely curious - what is this about folding inside out? Does this mean you actually fold dry clothing inside out so that when you go to put it on you have to flip it back?
wonderful grape / 20453 posts
Yep. Mine gets washed on cold and the vast majority does not go in the dryer. I do mine, DH does his...the rest is no biggie. Nothing pisses me off more than my clothes shrinking and not fitting anymore.
blogger / eggplant / 11551 posts
@Sparkler: Just for convenience sake. We have the kids clothes in a separate hamper, and when I fold clothes it's easier to just fold all the kids clothes rather than have their clothes mixed in with our adult clothes.
pomegranate / 3329 posts
Yes, very particular. I sort whites, lights, darks, jeans, and towels. All clothes need to be stain treated then turned inside out and washed on cold. I hang all of lo's clothes, some of mine and jeans, everything else goes in the dryer.
