Do you feel you are stricter or more relaxed with your kids than your parents were with you?
I think we raise our son about the same strictness as my parents did, but we are much stricter than DH's parents raised him.

I think I am much more *conscious* about things than my parents were.... Im not sure whether that will translate into being stricter yet.

Nope, we are more lax about most things. I need to work on my stern voice.

Well, she's only 4 mos, but so far we are wayyy more relaxed than mine, and probably less relaxed than DH's parents (I don't think it's possible to be more relaxed then they were...)

My parents are hippies and were very much on the 'eh, they're fine...' camp. Never stressed about activities, what foods we ate, clean rooms, good grades, etc...yeah DH and I will be more strict on that stuff;)

Probably the same as my mum but way more strict then dh's parents (especially after seeing how they are with dh's nephew!)

I think we'll be somewhere in between my parents and the ILs. By this I mean DH will be strict and I'll probably get walked over!

More strict, but only because my parents really failed me in terms of boundaries and positive discipline. As a child, I longed for a parent who was really clearly in control and in charge. I'm a huge attachment parent, and I think that firm boundaries is a very important component of a healthy attachment. My daughter is parented with really caring and loving firmness.

I tell my parents that they went soft when they became grandparents, because they were strict, no-nonense with me, and there is no trace of that now.
My boys are smothered with love, hugs, rules, and behavior expectations!

I'm way more relaxed than my parents...but, I'm more strict than DH's parents, by a long shot!
