W got invited to a party for one of her daycare friends, but we have two other parties to go to that day. Should we still get her a gift?

For birthday parties we don't. If it is a good friend I might have the kids draw a card and put in some fun stickers or something but otherwise we just skip it.

I only do if I'm close to the person. Like if I would give a gift even if there weren't a party at all, I will if I can't go.

Possibly, depends on the person. I gave a good friend a gift her her son still when we couldn't make it, I wanted to see his reaction.

Not unless I would give a gift if there was no party (if I were close to that person).

I don't do it for birthdays. But I do for weddings, bridal showers or baby showers.

My love language is gifts - so I give gifts to parties I can't attend... to show my love and that I care about the people that invited us... but I think everyone is different.
