The first day of voting for the new pope has ended with decision made. They will start up again tomorrow morning. I am so curious how this will play out and who they will chose.

Yes!
There's lots of rumors floating that our former bishop could be named pope. He did my confirmation and spoke at my college graduation so I'm really rooting for cardinal wuerl!!

I'm not. However, my mom just texted me "black smoke" and I was like "What the heck does that mean? Is the house burning down?!?!?" Turns out, she IS watching.

Love the conclave! On Kelly and Michael today she called it 'The Catholic Superbowl' LOL. It would be so neat to have an American pope!

I'm definitely keeping up with the updates. Even with its many problems, the church is dear to me and I'm definitely interested in seeing how things play out.

I'm paying attention! I doubt we'll have an American pope though--it's much more likely we'll have a Latin American or African pope before an American one!

I'm interested, for sure, but not as much as last time. I just hope they pick someone who seems more in touch with people, like John Paul II. I'm interested in Cardinal Scherer. Apparently, he's been on Brazillian late night talk shows and rides the subway every day. Makes him seem very down-to-earth.

@wheres_c: @Jennimac: Me too! Yes, I am definitely watching for the white smoke!

I don't really care that much, but I sort of hope it's someone from Africa or South America or Asia.
About time they had a non European pope... and considering most of the Catholic world lives in Central and South America, it would make sense to have one from there.

I'm working too much to keep up as much as I'd like, but I followed up until the conclave started.
I'm definitely hoping for a non-European reformer pope!
