My husband is the worst backseat driver. It's makes me so mad. Luckily, he drives mostly when we're both in the car.

I suffer from backseat driver road rage. Unfortunately, it's directed at the diver of the vehicle in which I am a passenger. DH is an awful driver & it makes me crazy. He leaves me alone when I drive, I like to think it's because I'm an awesome driver & there's nothing to criticize about it:D

I'm getting better at it. I do get mad when he tries to avoid potholes, though and makes me car sick by swerving all over the damn place.

I'm a terrible backseat driver, but in my defense DH is a terrible driver to begin with. He totaled 4 cars in 7 years before he met me... and has the same car since we started dating 4 years ago now!
OMG someone knock on wood with me so I don't jinx it!

I am, same as chopsuey. It's not so much the speed with him, but he follows WAY too close, doesn't pay attention to the speed of the person in front of him (their brake lights come on, at least take your foot off the gas!), and is generally unaware of other drivers giving him signals (such as if he starts following too close, and they drive as close to the side as possible to tell him to pass, then slow down when he refuses to go around so as to minimize the inevitable accident with the oblivious guy behind them - he keeps tailgating and gets pissed off at THEM.)
He did a little backseat driving with me, but I also had to re-learn how to drive after years of seizures. He stopped heckling me to go faster when I suddenly drove at his usual speed-above-the-limit for about a minute - and he's stopped going 80 in 55 MPH zones.

I would totally say something also if it's a safety issue. But my husband tells me what lane to use, once the light turns green, he'll alert me, or other stupid things like that.
@cyneswith: @chopsuey119: My husband is a tailgater too. He's gotten much better now that we have kids. And because he tailgates, he'd have to stop the car very abruptly sometimes which made the ride very uncomfortable as a passenger. He basically drove like a NYC cabbie - very heavy footed on the pedals. I used to say things and we used to fight all the time in the car about it.

Yes, I'm definitely a backseat driver. DH drives like a lot of your DHs do. If he drove better, I wouldn't have to complain!

I'm a big time bsd, but I really think hubs is a horrible driver and I'm trying to teach a man how to fish so he could eat for a lifetime lol...hubs can be one too but he does most of the driving when we're together.

Oh yes. Oddly enough, he drives slow when I wish he'd speed up and he drives fast when I wish he would slow down. If he could read my mind I wouldn't need to be a backseat driver.
I also have passenger road rage in which I make comments to other cars about their driving, even when I'm not driving myself.

My Hubby gives driving lessons for a living. He's the worst backseat driver because he's used to keeping teenagers and old ladies from careening into oncoming traffic. Every time we were in the car together and I was driving he'd constantly be telling me about the red brake lights up ahead, attempting to slam an imaginary brake pedal because he felt like I wasn't stopping soon enough (my brakes are better than his, and typically I was noticing the same time he was). This led to a couple of fights until I finally told him that he could have a wife or he could have a driving student, but he couldn't have both. He's done his best to shut up about it now ;).

MY DH is horrible at backseat driving!! Drives me nuts, especially in my new car. I finally had to tell him to stop it. He usually drives but since I got a new vehicle I have been wanting to drive it more (still fun) haha but I'm sure we will go back to him driving all the time!
