Our daycare payment (2 LOs) is a little lower than our mortgage.

My one child's day care is significantly (40%) more expensive than my mortgage! But that's because we bought a house well below what we could afford and put down a big downpayment.

Well, currently daycare is less than our mortgage. When she moves to a new center at 2, daycare will be more expensive than our mortgage.

no mortgage here, but the 2 kids in daycare is way more than our rent payment! probably 1.5x.

The are roughly the same (within $200 of each other per month). I always joke that having LO was just like taking on a second (in our case, third) mortgage.....

Mortgage is a little more. When we have two, daycare will cost more

About 50% of our total house payment (insurance, PMI included).

@autumnlove: our daycare for one is a tad bit higher than our mortgage

Daycare is less than our mortgage, but if we have 2, it'll probably be equivalent or more. Ouch!

I don't have a LO yet but I'm guessing it will be about $200 p/m less than our mortgage... crazy expensive.

Our mortgage is really low comparably. We will pay slightly less for childcare. Like, $150 less but still...

Daycare is less than mortgage, but when we have two, it'll be more expensive.

One toddler and it's about 70% of our total payment with PMi, etc

Day care for one is less. I imagine when we have two it will be about the same.

Daycare woul have been more than our mortgage and car payment combined. It's one of the biggest reasons why I decided to wah!

Childcare will be a little more than our mortgage payment (which includes principal, interest, taxes, and insurance). If we decide to have a second begore the first goes to school, childcare would be WAY more.

Ours is less with one child in an infant room. I imagine if we had two in the future it would be more if we continue at the same center.

I don't have a LO yet, but with the prices I've checked, daycare will cost double our mortgage.
GOLD / pineapple / 12662 posts
Even if we had 2 in daycare, our mortgage would still be more expensive. The scale would tip the other way if we had 3 in daycare.

If LO was in daycare, it would cost maybe $200 - $300 less than our mortgage.
grapefruit / 4823 posts
If we used daycare for the 2 of them it would be the same, if not more than our mortgage

If we were doing daycare, the quote I got was for more than our mortgage (not by much, but still...). That's for one child.
That's why DH is becoming a SAHD.

Daycare is less. If she were in full time, then I think it would be more!
pomegranate / 3895 posts
Our daycare costs will be about 50% of our monthly mortgage payments. But we pay an extra mortgage payment each month to pay it down faster, hence the larger differential between daycare and mortgage costs.

Our rent is considerably more than daycare, but daycare is very cheap around here.
pear / 1861 posts
Daycare is more, but my house is paid for so anything would be more. If I had a mortgage, it'd probably be less.
