Charlie's pretty good at it at this point (he's 4)... Olive is ok at it, but I constantly worry she'll pull a pan or pot down on her head!
Are your kids good about staying away from the stove/oven while you cook?

Yes! By some miracle, "hot" was one of DD's first words, and she has a huge respect for things that we tell her are hot. She does the hot sign (lifts up her hands), says "ot", and won't go anywhere near it once we tell her something is hot.

We make sure the pan handles are always turned in, because one of my worst fears is her bringing down hot food (or worse, water) all over herself.
When i'm opening the oven she stays away. We always make a big deal about "hot!" (which she understands) so she is good about keeping her distance.

E helps me in the kitchen a lot and learned what "hot" was very early on. He stays away from the oven and doesn't touch the stove. It still really scares me though!

Yes! Staying away from the oven/stove was one of the first boundaries we really pushed.
