Ugh, I do and I've got about 10k to go...it's hard to pay extra on it right now so it will be a LONG time until we can pay it off. We just paid off DH's yesterday though!! But his was only 3k to begin with, but it still feels good

Nope, we have over 26K left, and will probably take 20 years to pay them down. We just aren't making them the priority right now, but once LO is older and out of day care, we will attack them head-on!!

I never took out loans, my husband's were paid off right after (small amount). My parents helped & I worked a lot in high school and a lot in college! I consider us to be lucky though.

DH helped me pay mine off a few years ago...if it had just been me, it would have taken a looooong looooong time.

Nah; but we've got less than 40k left. They will be paid off within the next 5 years or less. We could pay them off early, but they are not a priority for us to pay off.

I have less than 20% left, which is pretty good for self funding undergrad, masters and medical school. My work is going to pay another chunk off in January. Most of it has been payed by grants or loan repayment programs, luckily because it was a fair bit of cash.

Ugh, I got a ton left still. At least I'm no longer in the six digits ... Yay for that.

I am still in school so I havent even started paying them back yet. It will be a signicicant chunk ~50k, but I will qualify for some repayment programs and whatnot, so they should be paid off sooner rather than later. Luckily DH has 0 student loans!

@oliviaoblivia: that is amazing! How did you do it? Did you have IBR or anything similar?

I graduated in 2009 and DH and I spent the next 2.5 years living off of his salary alone. Most of my take home went into paying back my loan. It sucked, but we're really good at saving now.

my parents paid for my college, both undergrad and graduate school, so I have no loans. I'm so so so appreciative, especially now because I doubt I could be a sahm with all of that debt.

dh has loans though..... and it'll be awhile before they're paid off.

Ugh, no. When I started paying about a decade ago, I think I owed about $130k, mostly from law school. Now it's down to a little over $40k, with two loans of about equal size. One is on a shorter plan, and I should be done with it in under 4 years just paying the minimum. Since I'd love to get rid of the $600/month payment even sooner, I try to throw some extra at that loan at bonus/tax refund time. The other loan, I think paying the minimum it'll be 13 years or something? But it's "only" about $225/month, and I'll start paying extra once I get the other loan paid off.

DH was very fortunate to have his parents pay for all of his degrees and tuition. No loans for him. My parents paid for my state univ. undergrad but not my fashion school tuition. I still have 2 loans that I've been paying off forever for those! Almost done with one of them, but will keep paying the monthly since the interest is low on student loans.
