Haha. I think since LO was born.. I've been away from her for only 15 hours. She turns a year old this month!
I love love love having her with me 24/7.

I actually loved it when others wanted to hold my LO 'cause it meant that I could go use the bathroom, eat lunch, shower......you get the point, lol.

I also thought it would help her with future separation anxiety issues. We don't have a ton of friends/family around so her exposure to other people is limited so when the opportunities did come I wanted other people to hold her for practice.

I'm selfish now, but I wasn't when LO was little. When I was on maternity leave, I felt like I spent literally half the day with LO attached to a boob, so it was a relief to be able to hand him off. I had no qualms passing him around to anybody.
Now I'm at work all week, plus LO is fun, and gets excited about me- all of which mean that I'm totally like "MY BABY" when I get home at night, and on weekends. I try to ease up for the grandparents because I know they love him too. That was one really nice thing about nursing- being able to say "I'd like to feed him now" was my "gimme my baby back" trump card.

I was pretty selfish and still am at 11 months. When he was young, it was very hard for me to pass him to anyone but DH. I love napping with him and even if I'm frustrated in the moment, like if he's been fussing for a while, every time I passed him to someone else, I felt like there was a hole inside me and I just wanted my baby back.

I was pretty good once DS was 4 or 5 months old. I was much better when people asked or when they didn't and gave me the opportunity to offer. I really prefer choosing to pass DS, rather than having someone take him from me.

I've had to get over it, particularly with my inlaws. They HOG him on weekends. I get it - they love him and want to see him - but I went back to work full time and weekends are MY time with him too!

This weekend I was so pissed that my MIL was holding DS when he fell asleep, after she swiped him from me, that I had her put him in his pack n play. He really does sleep better there, but I was also jealous. DS is really independent, so I'm very selfish of his cuddly time. Can't say it's very mature of me, but my MIL doesn't seem to get that he is MY son, not hers.

oh gosh..I'm already like this and LO isn't even here yet! I'm already panicking about Thanksgiving and Christmas because I don't want it to become a free-for-all pass the baby with all the germs. ugh!
