I am so happy Asiana Airlines is suing. This wasn't funny at all.
This reminds me of Fox News' "Baby Mama" caption for Mrs. Obama. Where's the respect?

That is crazy. How did they NOT know those were fake names?!

I still can't believe they read that on-air. No one checks this stuff before they go live? I read that the anchor said they didn't say the names aloud until they were on air, but that's dumb, I would think that if you just read the names on paper you'd know they were fake names.
Very insensitive and I agree with the first part of the quote about disparaging Asians with those ridiculous names but I don't think this ruined Asiana Airlines' reputation...um, perhaps the plane crash is doing that?

I can't believe the anchor didn't realize it midway. Come on!!
By the 2nd or 3rd name, she should have figured it out.
As an asian, it's hilarious but yeah, pretty offensive.
Have they figure out which intern it was? Or did they fire all the interns?

I think its ridiculous that the anchor didn't realize they were fake as she was talking. But first, I guess we must acknowledge that it is Fox News... They have different ethics standards really. And my guess is that the "intern" blame is just a coverup for someone's stupidity.

I admit, I LOLed, but it's pretty awful considering that people we injured and lives were lost.

@bluestriped bee: CNN just reported a NTSB intern was fired. That's the Nat'l Transportation Safety Board not the news station. So this intern may have sent this out to a bunch of stations, but these were the only copy editors and anchors
to use it.
@mrsjazz: yeah, just maybe it's the crash. Hmm, yeah.

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: Oh, really? I thought it was the interns at the local news channel. Wow!!

@Crumbs: I LOL'ed too...only cause they didn't realize the names were wrong!
That's bad, though...that stupid intern...what was he thinking???

That's so horrible that there would be such an oversight! How disrespectful to the victims involved.
@Mrs.Someone: It was an NBC new station, not Fox.

@bluestriped bee: that makes more since. I hope I heard CNN wrong.

@runsyellowlites: I just double checked, it was 7KTVU in San Francisco, a Fox affiliate...

@Mrs.Someone: Doh.. I saw NBC in the article & misread it... that is was an NBC station being sued, not that NBC was the one reporting about the other station....
*I'm so tired* lol

I see the names know and can only see their phonetic pronunciation now, but I honestly don't know if I would have thought it was messed up until I read them aloud.
Asiana Airlines suing feels like they're trying to shift the focus from their very big mistake to someone's insensitive/idiotic, but not life-threatening, mistake. I agree with @MrsJazz--the name incident isn't ruining their reputation, the crash is!
