Do you ever find yourself saying that?
The blog post about lying got me thinking about our niece from my husband's side. She just turned 5 and if some of you remember a while back I posted about our nieces and nephews. She's quite a chronic liar and like the article said she was 4 when she stayed with us for 2 weeks and I noticed just how bad her lying had gotten. To the point where you will catch her in the lie and she will still refuse to admit that she lied. To the point where she will be crying, get sent to her room and she will still refuse to admit she lied. Or even the next day.
Her parent's are separated and quite honestly imo they're not handling it very well for the kids. Less than 9 months later the mom has a new boyfriend moving into the house. And I just learned the other day that the two nieces who love to talk about everything in their life has not once made a peep about their home life since. It's kinda sad.
I wish there was more we can do but we're 20+ hours away and the brother doesn't take to "parenting advice" very well. So I stay far away from that subject with him.
We love them because they're our nieces but...at the end of the day they're not our kids...
I hope like crazy that BIL and his ex-wife's relationship doesn't continue getting sour to the point where we can't be a part of our nieces life. One of them is our god daughter and I would hate to be those god parents that dropped out of their life. And it would not be by choice.
