Is a baby considered a toddler? Or is it based on milestones like walking and talking?

I've always kind of seen the first birthday as that baby > toddler transition, but maybe that's just me. Makes me sad, though. One more month

For me I consider it when the baby starts walking. I started really calling my 15 month old a toddler this weekend when he started truly toddling all over the place.

I've started referring to LO as a toddler since he doesn't crawl at all anymore and only walks, although age-wise I always associate toddler with ~2, and LO is only 13.5 months.

I feel like it's when they walk, because then they start "toddling" around. I think LO will be a late walker... and I'm ok with that because then she'll be my baby longer!

I felt like there was a definite change after the LO turned 1 and she didn't seem like a baby anymore.

i think at one they become toddlers, but between 1-2 you can still get away with calling them babies without it being odd

I went with 18m because that is when my daycare (and several others we looked at) started calling them toddlers. I've heard others say they are toddlers starting at 15m.

The daycare I worked at had two toddler classes, one at 12 months and the other they transitioned to at 18 months, so I've always thought of toddlers as the age between 1-2 years old.

I usually associate a toddler as 18 month-2 years, when they really start walking and talking.

Yup, I considered my LO a toddler once he started walking at around 13 months. Before that, he still looked like a baby to me since he was crawling around. AWWW. I miss the baby stage.

I had a dream last night that my three month old was walking, and we were all amazed.
Sorry, I remember all my dreams lately from waking up so much!
