Charlie is 27 months, while Olive is 5 months. I've noticed that when we bring them to birthday parties and the like, people ooh and aah over Olive but generally ignore Charlie.
I guess he's lost that new baby smell!
It's true online as well: when Bee posts about Charlie on Hellobee, people don't comment as much as they do when she posts about Olive.
At what age do babies become less compelling and people tend to start losing interest?

Maybe when you have a second child? People still pay attn to my 23 month old because she is our only one. I bet it would be the same if you did not have Olive especially since Charlie is so cute!

Depends who they are, I think. My son's my grandparents only grandkid but number 4 on my IL's side, so while my parents love to see him via Skype, my IL's seem like they can't be bothered.

I was wondering too. DS is a year, but he's our only child. In the last few days he's gotten lots of attention and compliments when we've been out and about, which I just eat up. He's also entering a bashful stage, which is surprising to me. I thought it usually hits earlier, like 9 months, and thought DS might miss that phase. He's not scared, but definitely a bit shy around strangers now.

I always thought people liked babies more when they get older because they can interact and talk to you then. I still ooh and awww over all of my friends toddlers! LO's only 8 months so people still give her lots of attention.

We still get random strangers making comments about him or smiling at him/me. I get a lot of questions about his age mainly. In terms of friends and family, he definitely got a lot more attention when he was an infant/early toddler. I hope he still receives the same level of attention once his sibling comes. I wouldn't want him to feel like he's not special anymore.

Olive is a beautiful little baby, but Charlie is so so cute (especially in his Elmo costume) I'm surprised they don't get the same blog traffic. Maybe I'm different, but as much as I love babies, toddlers are more fun to play with, I think I give more attention to toddlers.

I think once they start talking/being "annoying" is when people tune out (that's when I tune out with my friends' kids). My BFF has a 15 month old and I think I've been over her since she was about 13 months or so.

Good question...
Everyone ooh's and ahh's over Maddy, but when her big brother is with us (he's 10) they still interact with him (could be because of bright red hair though). I notice my two stepdaughters don not get as much attention from strangers, but equal with family.
