It's 63/64 inside and around 57 outside I think. I've never turned the heat on until almost November most years. I'm cringing at the thought of turning it on already, but it feels so cold in here! At what point do you turn your heat on?

Ugh!!!! I'd want to turn it on but I wouldn't because it's still September! Bundle up!! Unless it got to like 59 or below I'd tough it out I think.

I probably wouldn't turn on the heat yet simply because I'm stubborn and wait it out as long as possible. But also this will be our first fall/winter w LO so of course I would not want him to be cold!

We turned it on last night...it was in the 40s and I don't want the kids to get cold.

haha, you guys are all so tough! It's 71 in our house (60s outside) and we're thinking of turning on the heat!! I'm a wuss and hate being cold and I don't want Xander to get cold at night since he doesn't sleep with blankets.

We turned it on this morning for a bit. It was 61 when we woke up. So we turned it on to get it up to 64 then turned it off!

If it's uncomfortable in the house I turn the heat on no matter what time of year. We keep the house in the 68-73 usually, whether that means heat or AC. I don't want to be cold in my house just because it's September.

I live in NY and I usually hold out till almost Nov! I'm cheap

I don't mess around with being too cold or too hot! If it drops below 71 degrees the heat kicks on, and if it rises above 73 the A/C kicks on. Worth the money to me!

I turned it on for about 30 minutes to the chill off! May have to double up on the sleep sacks tonight

It has been a nice day today here in England but I have got the fire going tonight anyway..... Its so cozy!

We did last night! It was in the 40s during the day and I'm not sure how cold it got overnight. I turned it to 75 and off this morning. I am lucky I suppose, we have solar that mostly pays for the radiant heat floors. I run at like 96 degrees, I can't sleep if I'm cold!

It hit 65 the other day so we turned it on to 70. I keep the house around 69 in the winter and 73 in the summer

Just turned it on tonight. It's 68* in here which I don't find horrible but the low is 47* tonight. LO's room gets so cold!

I turned it on for a little bit this morning (it was 65 in the house).

@Adira: seriously lol! I turned it on this morning when it was 71 in the house. I was shivering!

I turn it on if I feel uncomfortable in the house. Usually that's around 66-67 inside.
pomelo / 5621 posts
@Adira: I'm with you, I like to be warm in my house. Especially with LO, I don't want it to be cold in here at night.
We keep it about 71-72 inside. I turned the heat on the other day when it got cold, but today it warmed up a bit so I turned the heat down.

We were in the same boat today. It was 62 in our house this morning and only in the 40s outside. Luckily, it never went below 60 today, and the indoor temp finally crept back up to 68. Tomorrow should be warmer. I was so cold, but just can't fathom turning on the heat this early in the fall.

When it's below 64 inside. We've had a few nights below freezing so it's been on already this week!

Basically below 63 is when I will turn the heat on unless I don't feel super cold, if I'm just chilly at that point I'll just put on more layers.

We hold off until later on turning the whole house heat by using a heated mattress pad and heated throw blankets. I'll probably turn the heat on when it is staying below 65 inside. We'll probably eke out a few bonus days of no heat by baking.

Low sixties is pretty chilly inside! I don't like to be too warm in the house but sometimes I'll turn it on just to warm it up a bit, then turn it off/down again.

When I'm uncomfortably chilly in my house with a long sleeve shirt and a blanket, I turn on the heat. I have never really paid attention to when that happens or the exact number. I think in the winter we usually keep the house around 68 once we turn the heat on.

Oh my gosh, these threads always crack me up. We keep the house at 71, no matter the time of year. My husband doesn't do well with it any hotter, and I don't do well with it any cooler. We work too hard to not enjoy ourselves at home by being too hot/chilly!

Its about 45F outside this weekend (7C), and our heat is on. Its about 68F in the house right now, and I can turn the fireplace on to warm it up a bit more.
But...turning the heat on in September isn't really that rare here.

I don't know yet. This will be our first winter in this apartment, so I don't know how well insulated it is. The weather has been mild the last few weeks, but definitely not cold, and it's supposed to be in the low 70s this week!
