The driskill hotel has a really nice restaurant and the yummiest pastries.
Waltons Fancy & Staple is a nice bakery and everything on their menu is good.
Gourdough is a donut spot that has donut burgers. Their dessert donuts are better than the burgers in my opinion. -

Curra's for Mexican food. Avocado margarita all the way. Magnolia for late night munchies.
Ginny's for Dale Watson and chicken shit bingo.
Broken Spoke just to watch the dancing. Also, it's probably going to be bulldozed to make condos, but it's such a great TX institution.
Kolache factory if you must, but try to find a local place for kolaches.
Now I'm sad I don't live there anymore.

We went for the Austin Grand Prix so didn’t get to explore too much, but we went to an awesome shop (Allens boots) to get cowboy boots, and enjoyed walking around the Capitol Building. Enjoy!!!

Any updates or other recs for Austin? I'm so excited to be going with 3 friends in February for a *very* belated (by 2 years) 40th birthday trip for all of us. We're planning to hike, relax, shop, and eat, but don't have anything specific in mind yet.

I was there for work recently and had the most amazing meal at Red Ash downtown. I think you have to get reservations pretty far in advance but it was so good!
