When going through a sleep regression or other sleep problem, how do you avoid creating bad habits?
My dd sttn (about 7+ hours and increasing to 10-11 hours) from 2.5 months. Now she seems to be over that. She used to put herself to sleep with a paci (she can replace it herself) since about 3 months.
Now she is 8.5 months and she has separation anxiety and cries whenever I put her in her crib. We've resorted to holding her, putting her in her swing, standing next to her and sneaking out, and bringing her into our room in the middle of the night. I'm not comfortable with these things long term, but I don't know how else to get her to sleep short term. Letting her cry (after everything else failed) just made the rest of the night go worse with more wakeups.
I keep reading "just don't make a new bad habit" type things and I have no idea how you're supposed to do this!
