Dates change and I wouldn't plan TTC around school start dates but I plan it on different things that work for our family!

I find it a little annoying that our school district's cutoff is 9/1 since DS's b-day is in the middle of November. Where I grew the cutoff was in late December. So we'll have to pay for daycare for an additional year.

TN's cutoff is August 31. Where we live, if your child turns five after August 31, but before September 30, they can be tested for "kindergarten readiness." We miss that window anyway with an October birthday.
I am very glad LO will be close to 6 & among the oldest in her class when she starts kindergarten. I think it will hopefully make it easier for her to excel. We will have to pay for childcare for an additional year, yes, but with how structured school is these days, I would not want her in kindergarten when she is a young 5 year old.

My kids are march and August. Not sure what the cutoff is. I'd prefer they enter in as of 12/31 cutoff, whether or not they are youngest or oldest. We had such difficulty having our kids, no way was I thinking of due dates lol.

Thanks everyone, you all make some good points .. The more I think about it, I am more convinced that DH and I should start TTC around May of next year to have an early 2016 baby. I would have loved to start TTC now but I don’t think we are financially ready for two LOs in daycare just yet.
