I have no memory of sizes v. weight and in 6 mo you won't either. We're just heading into warm weather. Get some 0-3 and 3 mo stuff, maybe some 3-6 that would be appropriate for both summer and fall.

I've found that it really depends on the brand. LO is 6 months and still wears some 0-3mo pyjamas yet fills out 3-6mo clothes lengthways but not widthways. It's odd. You'll find that there's no consistency since the sizing is different between brands and all babies are different sizes. I'd go ahead and buy the next size up if you're buying new clothes; you can always roll up the sleeves/pants etc if they're a bit long She'll only fit into them for a few weeks or a couple months and be onto the next size before you know it!

Baby Gap runs huge anyway, just FYI. Their sizing is ridiculous.

I mean... my kid is 3 now so.... yeah, I dont remember. She was always 2-3 months ahead of sizes though, and then generally a "year" ahead in toddler sizes. Like, she turned 3 less than 2 weeks ago and she's in 4/4T.

Predicting infant growth is impossible. I always regretted buying ahead when she was little because it was usually a waste. Just dont do it. Generally, Id go bigger than you think you need. Baggy is better than too little.

They change clothing sizes SO fast at that age, it's insane! My daughter is tall and skinny - I want to say I put away the newborn clothes at 8 weeks and transitioned to 0-3 month stuff. She probably could have stayed in the newborn stuff longer but I wanted her to wear the 0-3s before she outgrew them, haha. I definitely wouldn't buy any more newborn stuff. Even if the 0-3 is a little big, she'll probably fit into it by the time you do your next load of laundry, it's nuts!

I didn't really buy ahead more than one size until we entered the toddler stage. I found the growth spurts to be so unpredictable. Like she was in 6 month clothes forever but flew through 9 month clothes!

H was smaller (still is), so we're behind sizes. She still has so much 18 month sized stuff for winter that she can't wear now because it's too warm.

It depends on LO and also brands. I give up trying to figure it out! I constantly just take out the next sizes and actually hold them up against each other and group them that way. Esp for Gap it's 6-12 m so I'm like ??? DD is 4 mo and she wears some 0-3, some 3 and some 6!

I never bought to far in advance when she was under 1.

I never look at the weight for the clothes. I just go by the length.

I always felt like Baby Gap was really huge, Target the smallest, Old Navy and Carter's in the middle.

My LO was in NB for about 6 weeks, and then 0-3 for a looong time, then 6 months around 8 months?

She's 21 months old now and still wearing some 12-18 months, some 18 months, and a very few 2t clothes (mostly Target stuff that runs small).

@Anagram: I wonder if the boys' stuff fits differently than girls in Baby Gap. We have a bunch of 12-18m Gap onesie and body double shirts that are getting hard to snap, the necks are looking too low/pulled, and the sleeves are getting short. But DS fits perfectly fine in Carters onesies. He's 17 months old.

Ds has been in carters 3 months since 1 week old. He was 9.4 lbs and 22 inches. It's mainly the length. He can fit in newborn width wise but his legs are way too long. Even 0-3 month is short on him.
