Ugh, just venting about how ridiculous expensive baby gear is, especially for good quality stuff. We need to buy another convertible carseat and I'm in the market for a new stroller. How do you deal with the cost of expensive baby gear? Search used? Wait for good deals?

I just suck it up and buy it
Well for a stroller, I would get that used. A car seat, check on Amazon. All car seats must meet standards and we got ours for $89, as opposed to $289. Especially if you are looking for a second car seat, I wouldn't go overboard.

The car seats were very difficult pills to swallow. The rest of our baby items we either got used or good quality, while reasonably priced (Ikea).

We got a really good deal on all of our nursery furniture but carseats have been hard to deal with. We just ordered her new convertible carseat last night and it was so hard to submit the order. A lot of stuff, we've searched around for the best price though and usually find it on Amazon. Plus, our family has bought a lot of stuff for LO since she's the first (and only) grandchild on my side and the first granddaughter on DH's.

We just got our convertible carseat on amazon. The Safety 1st Alpha Omega Elite for $99. Haven't actually put it in the car, but messing with it in the house I enjoy it! Happy with the quality for the price!

Although carseats are sooo expensive, I can justify the cost because we use them everyday! And i was ok with buying a slightly more expensive carseat (we have 2 Britax Marathons) for size and comfort reasons.
For toys and other items with a short lifespan, I almost always buy them used.

I bargain hunt like crazy. I write down everything I need to buy over the next several months and then wait for sales. I also bought a ton of things on Black Friday and Cyber Monday. For things where safety isn't an issue (so, not car seats) I also buy used.
