My mother has rented a villa on Italy's amalfi coast and is flying us out for two weeks! DD will be 13 months and maybe walking so I'm really nervous about being in a "un-baby proofed" house. It is on the cliff side with terraces and balconies and my worst fear if that she could somehow get over and fall off!!!!
Any suggestions??

Hurmm.. Tough baby proofing a villa. Any way to take a pack and play? Aside from following her everywhere, it might be nice to have a safe place to put her when you're outside or when you run off to do something for a few..

@chopsuey119: we are taking a baby bjorn travel crib that we could move around pretty easily. I'm just afraid someone will leave a door open while we're playing inside or something. I don't know why I didn't think of travel crib first lol

I think with the travel crib you'll be fine. Especially if you're there with family, they are probably more interested in watching and playing with her. Everyone will be doting on her.

I would purchase a whole bunch of door locks, sliding door locks, etc. (anything packable in a suitcase) and bring them along. Then whatever I didn't use I'd return.

@luckypenny: I really don't think taking a LO there would be safe. I am a good friend and would be willing to take the trip off your hands though;)

Can you buy a "baby jail" once you're in Italy? That way you won't have to pack it and pay extra baggage fees. Or I guess you could order it from Amazon, keep it in the box, bring it with you, and set it up there. Or ship it directly to the villa (I don't know how much that would cost, though).

Wow! Beautiful! We're always laying dining room chairs across doorways at friends's houses. (LO is 19 months and still can't or won't bother to move them.) also put signs on the doors for tr adults!? Trust me you'll have your eyes on your LO so muh cause at that age you can't help it!

We're in Hawaii and our condo came with a pack n play and a baby gate. There's also a baby rental place for high chairs and other baby needs. Also, does your family know anyone there that you can borrow thing from? That's how we get our cooler and umbrella here.
