The weather has been chilly this week, and my son loves to be outside, so I feel like socks alone just aren't cutting it. But he hates anything to do with shoes, and I've never been fully successful on getting a pair on. By the time I get one on and start the 15 minute process on the other foot, he pulls it off. We have a pair of Minnetonka booties and a pair of slipper-like boots from Gap that currently fit, but I cannot figure out how to get them on correctly. And he hates them. Any suggestions? He's 8 months and walks on his toes terribly. At the first sign of shoes, he points his toes so hard, it's impossible to get them on. Should I let it go?

I have the same problem! LO is 4 months and I put boots on her all the time, but by the time we get anywhere she's already kicked them off. I have no solution.

Someone said to kinda turn the shoe as you are putting it on. kinda like twisting a bottle of champagne to open it.
It seems to help us sometimes!

@Thehistoryofus: That's how I do it, but he points his toes so hard that the heels won't go on. I try standing him up to force him to flatten his feet, but he immediately starts kicking to get them off.

My little guy used to point his toes too. We just were more stubborn than him. We also found a pair of shoes he wanted to put on (we took him shopping with us). After that he loves shoes. Boots are hard to put on in general. I love our Nike toddler shoes they are flexible sole but easy to put on (the tongue is attached on one side).

Sometimes it helps to press down on the top of the foot near the ankle. There's a pressure point there that makes their toes relax.
