So as some of you know I started signing with Cobi (http://boards.hellobee.com/topic/cobi-did-his-first-baby-sign) and he signed "more" at dinner once. He hasn't done it at mealtime since; but yesterday he was doing the sign throughout the day just randomly. I wasn't really sure what he was trying to do.
Then, we dropped him off at my sister's so we could go out and I mentioned he'd been doing the sign all day and she said her 14 mos old sometimes just randomly signs too, so we shrugged it off.
Well we picked him up at about 10:45 pm which meant we had to wake him up. DH put him in his carseat, he was obviously upset about being woken up and kept signing "more more more". My sister made a really great observation: he knows that signing is communicating with me and in the past he knows it worked - his needs were met, so that's why he's going to continue doing it. It totally makes sense!! He did it again this morning when he got stuck crawling, he signed more. So as of right now, I can assume it means I have a need..
I am loving seeing this progress and it's definitely encouraged me to work on signs with him more.
Did your baby respond really well to signing?
