Excellent PR/ advertising! I've never heard of Westjet.

Not knowing I'd actually be getting what I asked for, I probably would have said a new bedding set.

I cried!! Loved this so much! Hopefully the guy who got the socks and underwear is just as greatful as everyone else! He actually looked really happy when he opened them and I thought that was great!

Genius marketing for what seems like a solid, genuine airline. However, I have mixed feelings, as these were some pretty hefty gifts for people that didn't seem too down on their luck. I don't know; I guess in the end, giving is giving. I await my thrown tomatoes, now.

How amazing that they were able to pull this off! It would have been fun to be part of the gift giving crew. One of the coolest Christmas advertisement this season!

WestJet is awesome. We fly with them every chance we can...I also have several friends who are either pilots or flight attendants with the company. They have a lot of fun!

Am I the only grinch-y person who didn't love this? I mean they people were happy and it was cute… but when I watched the video all I could think was… how much did they spend doing this? Why not just give all travelers better fares or a free checked bag or something?

(Going to hide in my grinchy hole now. Sorry to be a curmudgeon lol)

ETA: I do get that the reason they did this rather than my suggestion is because it is a publicity stunt to look like a nice company. That doesn't improve my opinion… lol

@Mae: they did give the one girl who asked for it a free flight home, lol. So in theory if they all asked they would have received, however they asked for different things, ha! I am being cheeky, I realize!

I thought this was so sweet! It's just nice to see people do nice things for others. The passengers get a wonderful surprise that probably made their whole month, and the airline gets great PR. Win-win I have no idea what I would have asked for!

I wold have loved to be one of the shoppers, lol. How fun to surprise everyone like that!
