We use a glue gun to close up all holes in our bath toys. It prevents water from going in in the first place. Be careful not to melt the toy! We also use foam blocks, bath crayons, cups, and I cut up shapes using foam paper.

We use Nuby bath time stacking cups, a pair of Munchkin rubber ducks (with temp circles on the bottom and no holes), and a rolling/floating Garanimals turtle. We also have a set of Sassy rubber boats with holes that squirt water. I give them a bath in diluted bleach periodically, and no problems so far (6 months or so).

Boon ring toss and floating bugs has been in our bathtub for YEARS!!
The scooper is mesh so it doesn't hold water when collecting the bugs!

I was pretty convinced ours didn't have any mold because I couldn't see any black when I held them up to the light. but I decided to cut them open anyway. 3 were in the tub, 2 have exclusively been downstairs as teethers. I cut open all 5. the ones in the tub were gross. the ones that she uses as teethers (that I have actually squirted drool out of!!) were spotless. kind of weird but sadly, they were already cut open.

Well crap, L has a ton of baby ducks with holes in them. I don't even know where they came from but she loves them

@swurlygurl: yea...i'm feeling pretty guilty. Olivia LOVES those things. like they're loveys or something. I'm hoping she just doesn't realize they're gone..
