I like the Beco Gemini b/c it's cute and it's relatively easy for me to put on. The weight is placed on your hips which will be nice when my LO is older.
We also have the Bjorn which my baby looves. She falls asleep when my mom holds her in it. It's pretty complicated though and I haven't even tried it yet.

I've never used the Gemini. I have an Ergo, and I love the idea but I think I have bad posture - my back hurts when I wear it! LO's legs are really too short to straddle yet, and she's too big for the infant insert (even pillow alone) so I'm kind of in a tough spot right now with it. I have to kind of froggy her legs in, which makes it hang weirdly I guess.
I have to wear it for hours tomorrow at a bridal expo for a friend so we'll see how it goes then, hopefully I'm not unable to move Monday. lol.

We have the beco, I feel like I've talked about it a lot on here...but it's my all time favorite gear purchase. It's comfortable, easy to fasten alone, there are 4 different carrying positions, it doesn't hurt my back at all and I love it so much. On the 2012 carrier, the strap broke off near the head rest but I bought another 2013 and they changed the straps to be sturdier.

I love our Beco Gemini. I wear it every day for HOURS and it's pretty comfortable the whole time. The main thing that sold me on the Beco vs. Ergo was how easy the Beco is to put on by myself. I have friends with Ergos and it's more of a struggle to get it on (and sometimes they ask for help fastening the back).
The one thing I don't love about the Beco is that it's very "strappy." The straps hang down on the ground when I'm putting LO in, and it looks like a hot mess of straps and clips once it's on. It hasn't been a big deal so far because I wear a coat over the whole thing (and don't care so much what I look like), but when it's warmer it won't look as clean and streamlined as the Ergo. Even with that, I'm still really happy I went with the Beco.

I have both, and I prefer the Beco (Gemini).
- It's easier to put on than the Ergo because I can never reach the buckle on the Ergo shoulder straps on my own.
-The Beco is padded pretty much all around, which seems to provide more support and is more comfortable for my LO.
- I always feel like my LO's legs are forced to sit too wide in the Ergo, and it looks uncomfortable.
- I never use the sleeping hood thing on the Ergo so I just let it hang down, which bugs me.

@betsyboop: The sleeping hood on my Ergo bugs the crap out of me too. C hated it with a passion, so we never used it, and it never stays tucked into the pocket.

@zippylef: Yes! And there are those snap thingies on the sleeping hood straps but I can't figure out if you're supposed to roll the hood and snap it somewhere? My LO never took to the sleeping hood.

@matador84: This is the exact question I've been debating too. I had already pretty much decided on the Beco Gemini, mostly in case my LO insists on front facing sometimes. But I have never tried on, and I did wear my friend's baby in her Ergo and it was SO comfortable (she was around 5 months old and it was only for half an hour because she got fussy).

@zippylef: @betsyboop: Huh-- I thought the lack of a sleeping hood on the Beco might be a downside-- doesn't sound like it!

I've been wanting to hear the answer to this myself...
What are the min age and weight? B is super little...

@travelingbrit: Beco Gemini says you can use it from 'infant' and you can adjust something in it to hold the baby up higher, but it still seems like it wouldn't work for a newborn. Ergo you need to buy the infant insert which everyone I know has disliked.

@travelingbrit: @Foodnerd81: I actually liked the insert! And once she was bigger, I used the little pillow without the shell of the insert.
Eta--I wore her in the ergo with the insert at 10 days old pumpkin picking and she was so cozy

@zippylef: my ergo has a pocket for the hood so it's always tucked nicely away. I also love the other extra pocket on the front of the ergo for keys or whatever.

@Foodnerd81: There were times when it was sunny that I wished the Beco had a hood (and a pocket like the Ergo does), but overall I prefer the simplicity of the Beco.

@sorrycharlie: the insert looked a little warm to me.....is that the case? Its 80 degrees here.

@Foodnerd81: I wore my baby in the Beco when she was 7 or 8 lbs. That was one of the reasons I got the Beco Gemini, no insert.

@travelingbrit: the insert is super warm--both LO and I end up sweaty when we use it. I wouldn't recommend it for a warm climate.

Can the beco be bought online? No stores close to me carry it and I don't see where I can buy on the website.

@matador84: you can buy it on Amazon. That's where I bought mine.
I love my Beco. I don't have the Ergo so I don't know how it compares. One of the biggest selling points for me is that you don't have to buy an infant insert and it's easy to put on by yourself.
hostess / watermelon / 14932 posts
@travelingbrit: definitely warm. You can get the same affect if LO is teeny with a receiving blanket. If LO has some head control, you can just use the pillow it comes with and not the "shell" part, that's what we did you just don't want LO's head flopping back or out!

@matador84: Yes! A lot of online retailers carry the Beco. I got mine online. I know Amazon carries it.

Awesome! I'll look on amazon. If anyone else has an online suggestion is love to hear it! Has anyone's baby not liked the beco?

I have both, and I prefer the Beco (butterfly II). I like that it has the infant insert built in, and the interior panel makes back carries super easy.
papaya / 10560 posts
Ok here is my next question-if you bought on amazon, did you look at the distributor it is through? Don't wnt a knock off...
coconut / 8234 posts
@matador84: Mine was a gift, but I know it was purchased via Amazon. The seller is highly-rated and it also qualifies for Amazon Prime, which means that it will be shipped to you directly from Amazon so I don't think they would be dealing with any knockoffs.

I have the Gemini and have borrowed an ergo for an extended time. I prefer the ergo and would buy that if I had subsequent LOs. The Beco is definitely much cuter but I find it too strappy and when storing its such a pain. I also really wish it had a hood so that I wouldn't have to worry about having a hat on DS when he's sleeping. It's been a while since I had an ergo but I don't remember it being any harder to put on than the Gemini. I remember the ergo being softer overall. The Gemini is more padded overall and a little bulky to me.

@hilsy85: @sorrycharlie: thanks for the info. I want something to use now and I guess that will be too hot for him. He hated the ktan.
@matador84: sorry for jumping in on this thread. I was hoping the ktan would work for us but he doesnt sit right in it :(. I've been wrangling with this decision for a few days because they are expensive. I think I'm going to go with the beco.

@matador84: I made sure mine was fulfilled by Amazon so I could return it if I didn't like it.
