When will you be TTC? February-ish is the plan

What is your reason for waiting?
Work-reasons during next year. Our schedules just clash.

How are you keeping busy in the meantime?
We did try for a few months that would be good for next year, but that didn't go well. Working on that one with my ob/gyn right now so we're good to go. But that's keeping me busy along with work and some random home projects.

I'm super outgoing and talkative, but don't make good friends well. (I just find making friends awkward at this age as DH and I don't like to "go out" and prefer being at home).

@PermaStudent: I'll be 28 next week, but my husband is 3 years older. We seem to fall right in the gap...not already having kids (people mostly his age) and so left out there, but not single or into the bar scene (like a lot of those my age). I feel like I have a lot stacked against my old friendships since we moved across the country 6 years ago. Growing apart from friends really does suck. I think my biggest challenge is I have a huge problem with ackwardness. I will walk out the room or press mute when tv shows even get awkward. I'm sure when I was 5 I had no problem asking someone to be my friend (or for their phone number or whatever). Now it just makes me cringe!!!!

We also have a dog that's pretty much our lives and will always be our first baby. He's watching tv with me now (it's storming and he's such a wuss).

When will you be TTC? Probably no sooner than August 2015.

What is your reason for waiting? We need to save money, and we are just enjoying being married right now. We would also like to move to a cheaper area before a baby comes along.

How are you keeping busy in the meantime? We have been working, saving money, exploring our area, and spoiling our 1 year old niece.

Share something about yourself! I am 28 and DH is 31. We live in the DC area. We love doing outdoorsy things, and we regularly go on backpacking/camping trips with friends. We have a 4 year old Miniature Schnauzer that we adore.

When will you be TTC? We're on track for October of this year.

What is your reason for waiting? Mainly my grad school schedule. We wanted to wait until at least our 1 year anniversary, which would be later this month, then grad school pushed it back a few more months.

How are you keeping busy in the meantime? Besides grad school... My husband is currently building a shed in the back yard to house his tools. He's been using the closet in our back bedroom-which will be our nursery-as his tool shed, so we have to get his stuff out of there before a little one arrives. We are also working on selling my townhouse that is left over from my single days. We're under contract as of this week! Now we just have a mountain of paperwork to deal with.

Share something about yourself! We're a little older to be TTC. I'll be 36 by then, and my husband is 37.

When will you be TTC? It keeps getting pushed back! We are now looking at late winter/early spring of 2015.

What is your reason for waiting? DH decided he really wanted to go to grad school, and it was now or never, so we are waiting for him to be finished, or at least almost finished. He's going full-time and receiving a small stipend, so we want to make sure he'll have an actual income by the time baby comes along.

How are you keeping busy in the meantime? Well, DH is keeping busy with school, and I'm working plus certifying as a doula! I also spend a lot of time with my family, especially my adorable 18-month-old nephew.

Share something about yourself: In my ideal world, I'd be a SAHM and doula on the side. I'm also working on my photography skills, so maybe I'd be a photographer on the side too!

Prenantal and improving diet and exercise will also help a ton. Limit caffeine and eat fertility super foods like bananas, avocados, yams and whole dairy.

Oh I forgot get a physical and a dental check! Very helpful and important before pregnancy. Some people also have success by doing a fertility cleanse prior to trying.

Coworkers as friends has always been weird for me. I don't like the gossipy and clique factor. It doesn't help that Houston is so freaking big. My best friend from grad school lived in a Northern suburb and it took us an hour to get to each other's homes. How does that happen?!?!

@krispi: Awesome news on the townhome! Selling homes is so much stress.

@MrsSCB: As you live near(ish) me and we're on the subject, if you ever need someone to do girly (or non-girly)things with, let me know. Maybe we can figure something out.

@IRunForFun: Losing a pet is one of the worst things ever. I'm so sorry. Hopefully, you can convince him to adopt one soon. There's nothing like a good puppy kiss to make your day better.

@Hoots: that would be great, I definitely will! I work a weird schedule now (one of the main reasons I want a new job, esp. before TTC). But I have a couple of interviews this week, so hopefully I'll have more free time in the very near future

@MrsSCB: Good luck with the interviews! I was in the same place last year and it's so nerve racking.

@MrsD2442: There is so much stuff out there that it's overwhelming. I need to buy a book soon, but I'm going to wait to see if my ob/gyn has any suggestions. If she does, I'll be sure to let you know!

@Hoots: "Literary" feels like the wrong word, but that's the only genre I can think of.

When will you be TTC? After the holidays!

What is your reason for waiting? We just got back from a 3 week European adventure so I am trying to build my vacation time back up!

How are you keeping busy in the meantime? Spending lots of quality time with my husband and trying to keep up with the healthy habits I've started

@Hoots: Popping in re: the awkwardness issue raised above. Do you ever watch Seinfeld or Curb Your Enthusiasm? Awkwardness makes me cringe but in an i-can't-look-away kind of way.

@MrsMcD: I can watch Seinfeld, well, mostly. I still press mute a lot. Same with the Office and Modern Family. I could never get into Curb Your Enthusiasm. Maybe it's just too much for me! I wish it was the I-can't-look-away type way. It's more the hide-your-head-under-a-blanket-and-cover-your-ears-like-you're-five-type thing.

@Mrs. Microscope: We actually may be going to Florida in December(ish) to visit a friend. If we do, I've already demanded Universal to see Diagon Alley. Our friend lives in Sarasota, so hopefully we can hit the beach too. We're still trying to fit that into our schedules. DH also has a conference in Europe next year, so I might tag along.
