@Dandelion: haha that is kind of a funny thought. Could you imagine if we could all be there in person? Waiting at the door? Anticipation written all over our faces!? Internet communities are kind of hilarious to think about as an in-person thing!

Totally waiting to see what happens. It's like a movie that's got me on the edge of my seat!

This situation enrages me. I want to picket that college. I mean honestly, these people are in charge of educating the minds of our future but they don't even have the forethought to have decent rules regarding breastfeeding? It's disgusting.

I've also been refreshing, with fingers crossed for a good outcome.

If we were there in real life, you know we'd all be mounting a protest outside the HR office if the results aren't favorable to mamas!

    @Anagram: agreed.

I am so angry for you. And so sorry that you have to deal with this on top of all the stresses of returning to work, being a new mommy and everything that goes along with that.

I hope that you find some support within your workplace, and that things settle down so you can focus on yourself, your family and your job.

    Sending you lots of support!

Well, it's past 5:00, so I'm assuming you're headed home or already home by now! Please update us when you can! Hope everything went okay at the meeting!

Wow! I just read this entire thread and it infuriates me!! I have pumped for 8 months back to work so far and have always been accomodated. Im very lucky. Every woman should have this right! I dont feel like asking a new mom to come in early and leave late to make up for pumping time is a fair solution either. We want all the time we can get with our new babies.

We need a year long mat leave!!

@cmomma17: I just read the part about your plans for the meeting and you're so well prepared and Informed. I really am rooting for you and I hope it went well... Still checking periodically waiting for an update.

  31. Thenetexan

    apricot / 355 posts

The lack of update makes me worry. I wonder if somehow they found out about this post and she got in trouble for that too. I hope everything is okay. I cannot imagine the additional stress this puts on to a new mom returning to work.

  32. Mrs. Pen

    blogger / wonderful cherry / 21616 posts

@yellowbird: heck I'd be happy with just six months! But we need SOMETHING! Not even all positions offer 6 weeks at full pay. And even if we were fine with unpaid- that's only 12 weeks!

  33. yellowbird

    honeydew / 7303 posts

@Mrs. Pen: I know! I took 10 weeks completely unpaid

  34. anbanan15

    grapefruit / 4681 posts

@Mrs. Pen: My maternity leave is completely unpaid. DH gets a better maternity leave than I do! He gets 1 week paid and up to 11 more unpaid.

  35. Charm54

    cantaloupe / 6885 posts

@yellowbird: @Mrs. Pen: I agree ladies - As a Canadian I am constantly amazed at how Americans make it work by going back to work so soon AND pumping like crazy to give your babies the best start to life. You guys are rockstars and I hope your govt laws change soon to give you all the time off you deserve!

  36. brownie

    grapefruit / 4110 posts

@char54: completely hijacking. But that isn't going to happen any time soon. My friend (total hippy) was upset that Yahoo gave women 6 weeks MORE paid leave than men. Because there would be no reason for that. As long as those mentalities are around it isn't going to happen.

  37. Mommy Finger

    pomegranate / 3272 posts

@brownie: Not to continue on the thread jacking but we had a girl in HR who thought it was sexist to give maternity leave at all. It's unfair to guys. Then give paternity leave too! My company sucks. . . .

  38. brownie

    grapefruit / 4110 posts

@MUI831: cause you wouldn't need to recover at all after birthing a child. And I think men should get paternity leave but again, that is bonding time. He tried to say that maternity leave is bonding time as well. I told him when a baby was sucking on his private parts he could make the laws the way he wanted to.
