DD won't take a morning nap if we're at home, but she'll pass out if we go somewhere in the car. She is almost 9 months old. Did your LO go through a phase like this? How long did it last?

Yes! The phase lasted until we switched him to one nap at 10 months. I found that he was sleeping longer and better for the afternoon nap than he was if I tried to force the morning nap. Once he started to get used to the one afternoon nap, he stopped falling asleep in the car for the morning nap.

DS started trying to give up his morning nap at about 10 months old. I kept the morning nap for another month and finally at about 11 months we switched over to just one afternoon nap. It took one weekto completely eliminate his morning nap, but life got immensely easier after that week! Even now, at 18 months, he will occasionally fall asleep in the car in the morning, but I just wake him up when we get home so it doesn't affect his regular napping time.

Subscribing! LO is 10 months and takes his morning nap or an hour without trouble but has been fighting the afternoon nap on and off. Yesterday was the first time he won; he woke at 6:30 napped 10-11:30 and then wouldn't take his second and fell asleep at 7:15 and slept until 6:30, normal time, this morning with one wake/rock at 9ish. It seems super young to contemplate one nap especially since he falls asleep quickly at 930 or 10!

YES! It was really annoying because her whole nap schedule would be out of whack. My DD is 14 months and she STILL falls asleep in the morning if we're driving, even though she's now on a 1 nap/day schedule! On those days, I just let her take her car nap and then try to get her to nap in the afternoon.

@2PeasinaPod: cool! I hope she stops falling asleep in the car by 10 months!
@Honeybee: wow, 10/11 months as well! I know, I will be a lot more flexible with just one nap for the baby!
@scg00387: the same thing started happening here on some days! A good morning nap until 10:30/11 am and then nada until her 7:30 pm bedtime. This week she has been skipping the morning nap unless we are in the car so I think we are close to only having the afternoon one.

@banana: as long as she still takes the afternoon one, too, it's all good. Lol!

Yep! Even now at 18 months she is solidly on a 1-nap schedule at home, but if we go for a car ride in the morning she'll take an early nap, an I'll have to try to get her down for a short one in the afternoon as well.
