Personally I'm not a fan of push presents, but if someone were to suggest it to me I think I'd say something along the lines of "oh that's not really something I'd want" to avoid being rude because I know what works for me may not neccessarily work for someone else and vice versa. So I don't think you were out of line by suggesting it at all.

I don't think it was out of line for you to mention it. I wish someone had mentioned it and talked it up to my DH! I think it's a sweet idea but missed out because DH has no idea of the concept. sigh. I'd be annoyed by the friend not comprehending that even though it's something only women can do, it's hard work and his wife is the one carrying the load ( literally and figuratively speaking).

I am offended by his response! Just because it is only something women can do doesn't mean it isn't worth celebrating!

Um.. I'm offended by what the guy said. Does he not realize how much work it is to go through pregnancy AND labor??

Wow, I'm offended for you! You definitely were not out of line! I'm sure his wife would appreciate a small gift, regardless of the reason, so I don't know why he'd flip out at you. I would be offended at him taking offense too!

Wow I'm offended for you, you were just trying to be nice and help him out! Hopefully he thinks about what you said a little more and learns how to be little more grateful to his wife and you.
